Welcome to Sogang
Sogang University, founded by the Society of Jesus in 1960, is
the only Jesuit higher educational institution in Korea. In spite
of its relatively short history, Sogang University has estab-
lished its place as one of the top universities in Korea.
There are 26 majors and 11 interdisciplinary programs offered
in the undergraduate program with 8,100 students and 400
full-time, tenure-track professors. Around 3,000 foreign stu-
dents study annually at Sogang University in various academic
programs
In its efforts to make the campus even more international,
Sogang University offers the best service to foreign students in
order to make their stay at Sogang as pleasant and memora-
ble as possible.
The education offered at Sogang University is designed to form intel-
lectuals who combine academic excellence and creative originality,
following the Jesuit tradition that has always pursued qualitative
prominence. Sogang University is in Shinchon, the heart of Seoul. All
major attractions can be easily reached by bus or subway, with 3 sub-
way stations within a 5-minute walking distance. Shinchon, is known
as a “University Town” because of the several major prestigious uni-
versities located in the area. Shinchon is the center of youth and cul-
ture overflowing with vibrant energy and romance.
Exchange students are fully integrated into the regular programs with
Korean students. This allows exchange students to experience Korean
culture to the fullest extent. All courses offered in the International
Korean Studies and the Graduate School of International Studies
(GSIS) are lectured in English.

Prices in Korea are reasonable, with relatively
cheap public transport fares, admission prices and
accommodations. South Korean currency is called
Won and it comes in following denominations:
1,000, 5,000 , 10,000 Won, 50,000 Won.
The total differs according to the individual but the
estimated cost is as follows.
