MISSION STATEMENT The mission of Sacred Heart Parish is to be the spiritual focal point for the Catholic Christian community in our portion of the Diocese of Des Moines. This community:

Believes and proclaims that Jesus Christ is Lord;

Calls its people to experience and put into practice the love of Jesus Christ;

Draws its people into the social and spiritual life of the parish so that each has a sense of belonging;

Seeks to help its members take on the "mind of Christ" through prayer, study and worship;

Uses and returns the gifts and talents God has given; Is itself a sign calling its members to hear and respond in ministry to the spiritual and temporal needs of people within the parish and beyond.

PASTORAL CARE

If I can be of assistance to you or a loved one, please contact me. I have many resources to share with you.

This is a delightful way to

introduce your little ones to Jesus in the Eucharist!

With its captivating writing style and charming art, The Mass Book for Children

not only teaches young children the parts of the

Mass but also shows them why joining in this joyful

gathering is an experience of love.

The books are located in the Gathering Space. Feel free

to use one during Mass and then simply return it when

You are finished.

SACRED HEART QUILTERS

One of your parish organizations is the Sacred Heart Quilters. We have been meeting for over thirty years to do hand quilting around a quilt frame. We do the finishing quilting for people who have a quilt top, which needs to be finished with the batting and backing. It is not important that you have never learned to hand quilt. We will teach you. We meet in the parish meeting room on Wednesday mornings following Mass and quilt until noon. We have a social time around 10:00 a.m. with coffee/tea and treats. If you would like more information please call: Deanna Wilson 987-4618 or just show up!

A WAY TO GROW IN FAITH AND CONNECT WITH OTHERS

If growing in your faith, sharing it with others, and helping young families feel more connected to the parish sounds interesting to you, then consider becoming a baptismal preparation facilitator. Baptismal preparation is an exciting time, as parents learn to grow in their faith and share it with their child(ren). It can also be an opportunity for young families to connect with the wider parish community. The St. Joseph Educational Center is offering a come-and-see presentation of their baptismal preparation program, which we are currently using in our parish. The presentation will be held for all local parishes on May 20th from 9:00-11:00am at Sacred Heart in WDM. No fee is required. Refreshments will be provided. If you are interested, please contact the St. Joseph Educational Center at [email protected] or call Lisa Risvold @ 222-1092.
