Introduction to AJG
Summary of Winter Events and Claims
If the unexpected happens make sure your insurance programme is tailored to suit your
specific requirements and needs
Seven storms across the UK between 5/12/13 and 14/2/14
Unprecedented series of events
As a result, 65 property damage claims reported with in excess of £1.5m paid and
outstanding by scheme Insurers
Largest single loss was £250k– following structural damage to Clubhouse and significant
internal loss as a result of tidal surge in December 2013
Buildings and Contents claims accounted for over 85% of losses during the year
Today’s Focus - Winter 2013/14
Choosing the most appropriate cover and sums insured
Seek guidance and advice from your Insurance advisor (Buildings, Fixtures and Fittings,
Contents, Stock, Cups and Trophies, Loss of Revenue, Boats)
Appoint a Club official with responsibility to evaluate your needs
Property & Assets
Obtain a professional valuation survey (RICS surveyor)
Need to factor in building control improvements on cost of reinstatement
Need to formulate and maintain an inventory of Fixtures, Fittings & Contents
Review Marine Installation needs – Reinstatement or First Loss cover?
Business Interruption
Get sum insured right (revenue declaration)
Indemnity period – How long will it take to reinstate your premises?
Having the Most Appropriate Cover
• Regular dialogue with clients and the
provision of advice
• Informative articles and awareness
marketing
• Broad cover and limits provided to help
minimise any potential future issues
• First class expert claims service in the
event that the worst happens.
The AJG Approach
You should:
Carry out regular assessments of your sums insured
Obtain a professional valuation for Club Buildings
Seek guidance & recommendations of your Insurance advisor
Give consideration to a “Plan B” to ensure continuity of activities
By doing so, you will:
Avoid underinsurance complications in the event of a claim
Avoid potential application of ‘Average’ by Insurers
Minimise any period of Club/TC inactivity
