Tuition and Required FeesThe College Board of Trustees reserves the right to alter tuition and fees

at any time by the amount necessary to maintain the institution or as required by the Wyoming Community College Commission.

All tuition and fees are due at the designated dates on the account statement, accessed on Mustang WebAdvisor. All checks or money orders should be made payable to Western Wyoming Community College or pay online through your Mustang Cruiser account.

Individual Advising Appointments After you complete the application process, contact the Valley Learning

Center at 307-782-6401 or [email protected] to make an Individual Advising appointment.

All students must complete the WWCC Online Orientation before the appointment.

WaitlistsStudents may be placed on a waitlist if a course is full. When a seat

becomes available the student will be sent an email notifying them that a seat has become available. The student will have three days to add the course to their schedule through “Managing My Waitlist” in Mustang WebAdvisor or by calling Mustang Central. It is ultimately the responsibility of the student to know their position on any given waitlist.

Being on a waitlist does not complete the registration process. Students are not automatically enrolled when a seat opens. If you have decided against the wait listed course, please have your name deleted from the waitlist by using “Managing My Waitlist” in Mustang WebAdvisor or by calling Valley Learning Center at 782-6401

Dropping ClassesUse Mustang WebAdvisor to drop courses through October 27 (full

semester courses). Complete withdrawals should be initiated at Valley Learning Center or Mustang Central.

NOTE: Block courses are on a reduced schedule for drop/ add dates and

STUDENT SERVICES AND FINANCIAL AIDOutreach Service

Western Wyoming Community College provides a number of services to you here at the Valley Learning Center Outreach. You can:

• register,• take classes,• meet with an academic advisor,• take placement tests,• computer lab access and use• apply for financial aid,• and a number of other things.

You also have access to all services on-campus, so please feel free to contact us whenever you need something.Remember students are responsible for adhering to all College regulations. The best place to find information on various rules is the College catalog. It’s our contract with you. Please go online at westernwyoming.edu to view our catalog.

Getting Financial AssistanceStudents enrolled in a minimum of six credits at Western Wyoming

Community College are encouraged to apply for financial aid. Some students enrolled in less than 6 hours may also be eligible for financial aid. There are generally two types of aid available at WWCC: aid based on assessed financial need and aid awarded based on academic excellence or area of major.

Students interested in Federal Aid must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Applications can be accessed from the WWCC Financial Aid webpage. Before financial aid awards are disbursed, students must have applied and been accepted for admission, and be degree or certificate seeking at WWCC.

April 1 is the priority deadline for financial aid at WWCC. Applications received by this date will receive priority consideration for all available monies. Applications received after that date will be processed as the financial aid file is completed.

Mustang WebAdvisor Capabilities:Students can access a variety of financial aid information via Mustang

WebAdvisor.• Students can view their award letter for the current academic year

once their financial aid file is complete and the financial aid office has reviewed their eligibility and packaged their

awards.

• Students can also accept or decline the aid that has been offeredto them utilizing this medium.

• Students can print out their award letter.

• Mustang WebAdvisor will direct students to the Master Promissory Note (Legal promise to repay Student Loans borrowed).

• Students can view their financial aid status by year or specific term.

This information is accessed by using your Mustang WebAdvisor login and password.

Financial Aid Awards usually consist of a combination of the following:

Federal Aid Programs:Federal Pell Grant – Federal Grant money available to qualifying students

attending approved post-secondary institutions.Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) - Federal

grants available to students with the lowest family contribution.Federal Work Study – Student employment available to a limited number of

students with need who choose to earn part of their educational expenses.

Federal Direct Loans:Subsidized Loans – Need-based federally subsidized loans available to college

students which are funded by the Federal Direct Loan Program. Current interest rate information is available at westernwyoming.edu, and repayment obligations begin six months after the student completes their education or stops attending on a part time basis. Entrance and exit counseling is required in order to receive these funds.

Unsubsidized Loans – Non-need based Federal loans available to college students which are funded by the Federal Direct Loan Program. Interest rate information is available at westernwyoming.edu. Entrance and exit counseling is required in order to receive these funds.

Federal PLUS Loans – Federal loans available to parents whose children attend post-secondary institutions. Interest rate information is available at westernwyoming.edu. Repayment begins immediately after loan disbursement.

Institutional Aid Programs:Western offers a variety of scholarships to High School Seniors based on

academic excellence. They include the Superior Student Scholarship, Honor Scholarship, Performance Scholarship; Opportunity Scholarship and Provisional Opportunity Scholarship (award includes state of Wyoming funds for Hathaway eligible students), competition and special ability grants. The Sweetwater County High School Graduate Scholarship is available for students who graduate from a Sweetwater County High School. Divisional Scholarships are available to sophomore students. Scholarships are also available to qualifying transfer, part-time and non-traditional students.

WWC Foundation Aid:Grants provided through donor participation, ranging in value from $250-$3,500

per academic year.

Veteran’s Benefi ts:Information and applications can be obtained from the Veteran’s Representative

in Mustang Central, and online on the College’s webpage.

TEXTBOOK & BOOKSTOREINFORMATION

Course textbooks can be reserved or ordered directly from the WWCC campus bookstore. It is convenient, simple, and easy. You can place your order on the Bookstore website at www.wwccbookstore.com. See below for more information.

The bookstore website includes author, title, publisher, ISBN and copyright date for textbooks or materials. Textbooks can be reserved online for four weeks prior to the beginning of the Spring or Fall semester. Textbook rentals on selected titles are available.

What You Should Know About Financial Aid Bookstore Accounts

All students buying their textbooks with Financial Aid must have funds in place EACH SEMESTER to cover the costs of books and supplies.

Explanation of Course NumbersEach course is assigned seven digits. The first three or four digits indicate

the area of study (for example, Art): the center four digits indicates course level (0900 means nontransferable, 1000 means freshman level, and 2000 means sophomore level).

Courses numbered less than 1000 are nontransferable, non-graduation courses.

Notice to StudentsInstruction will occur at the first class meeting. Come prepared for an

exciting learning experience.

Note on Class SizeFor financial and quality of instruction reasons, classes with fewer than

10 students may be cancelled.

Unattended ChildrenFor safety and liability reasons, WWCC cannot assume responsibility for

children left unattended in the buildings. Parents are encouraged to find an alternative place for their children while attending classes.

Avoid Disappointment!Each term we sadly have to cancel courses because of low enrollment,

only to find out the day of the first class that several of you intended to enroll. It is best to register before the course start-date to avoid disappointment.

Notifi cation of Student Rights Under The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act(See WWCC Catalog for more complete information regarding FERPA)

FERPA (also known as the Buckley Amendment) was originally passed in 1974. It has been amended several times since, but the essence remains unchanged. Primary rights for students under FERPA include:

1. Right to inspect and review educational records within 45 days of the day the request is received. Submit your request in writing to the Registration & Records.

2. Right to seek to amend educational records. If you think that something in your file is inaccurate, you may make a written request to have that recordchanged.

3. Right to have some control over the disclosure of information fromeducational records except to the extent that FERPA authorizes disclosurewithout consent.

4. Right to file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education concerningalleged failures by WWCC to comply with the requirements of FERPA.

Directory Information Western has identified the following information as directory information, meaning we will release it if the student has granted permission on the application for admission or registration information sheet.

All releases are based in the privacy code attached to the student. Under no circumstances are social security number or other identifying student numbers released. If there are any questions about the law and how we adhere to it, the VP for Student Services is WWCC’s designated FERPA officer.

DISTANCE LEARNING

Western knows that online learning is a great option for a growing number of students just like you. Our online courses are affordable and offer our students the opportunity to take a dedicated and self-disciplined approach to studying and completing your coursework. The reward is access to quality courses that is convenient to our students.

Internet Courses Internet courses are NOT self-paced. They will:

• Start on the first day of normal classes,• Have regular deadlines,• Require interaction with the instructor and fellow students.

To SUCCEED in an Internet class, you will:• Need to be online a minimum of 3 days a week,• Be able to study at least 9 hours per week for a 3 credit course,• Have strong time-management skills,

computer skills, and self-motivation.

You MUST:• Sufficient technology and Internet access is required to complete

online classes at Western Wyoming Community College. While tablets, smartphones and other mobile devices may allow for some completion of coursework, they are not guaranteed to work in all areas. Please ensure you have a Windows or Mac based computer available to complete coursework in the event your selected mobile device does not meet the needs of the course.

• Use the e-mail address provided to you by the college.• Be comfortable with using a computer and MS Word. To brush up on

your computer skills, take one of the non-credit courses.

If you are new to online learning, please take the “Intro to Online Learning” HMDV 1025, offered in Spring, Summer, and Fall Semesters.

To begin your Internet class on the fi rst day of the semester:

• Go to the college homepage westernwyoming.edu• Choose Mustang Cruiser from the drop down menu under My WWCC on

the right• Login using the username and password provided to you by the college.• Once logged in to Mustang Cruiser, click on the Blackboard tab located

near the top of the page.• You should see Welcome (your Name). If you do not see this and you

are seeing a collage of photos, you have a pop-up blocker. Please allow pop-ups from this site and then you will see the Blackboard window.

• Click on the name of each of your online courses to enter the class.• View all course information through the buttons on the left.
