Wait!! Credits?? -I’m still confused• Each class is worth 5 credits per semester OR 10 credits for the whole
year. All classes are year long!
• If you pass with a D- or higher you will receive 5 credits per semester
• However, 4 year colleges only accept a C- or higher. Remember D for diploma, C for College
• An F receives NO credit… ZERO
• All students must have 6 classes - some exceptions in 12th grade. All students can only have 7 classes maximum.

Westmont Graduation Requirements
Homework • Expect homework EVERY DAY for Math, English, Science,
Foreign Language
• Complete A-day homework on A-days and B-day homework on B-days, this allows students to go to study hall with questions BEFORE the homework is due. Study Hall is EVERY day.
• Use a daily planner, SchoolLoop to keep track of daily assignments, grades and achievement in class, ask your teacher questions. Teachers are the experts!

Monday through Thursday the library is open after school from 2:45- 3:45pm for students to utilize!

How do I get on to Schoolloop?
•You need your student’s ID number (can be found on their student ID card, class schedule, or call the Main Office

4 Year COLLEGE REQUIREMENTS: What is A-G?!
● The following “A-G” Requirements must be completed with a grade of "C-" or higher in order for students to be eligible to apply for the UC and CSU colleges in California (Not for Community Colleges). Out-Of-State and Private Colleges have their own requirements
● The NEW graduation requirements align with A-G requirements
● In addition to the A-G requirements, students must also take the SAT or ACT exam. We highly recommend students take the optional writing portion of these exams (it is required by the UC campuses and many private colleges)
● Minimum GPA required for UC applications: 3.0● Minimum GPA required for CSU applications: 2.0
● Please visit our Guidance webpages or the College & Career Center for more detailed information
about the application process! We will revisit this in more detail during 10th/11th grade parent information nights.

Class of 2015: roughly 70 % of our students were A-G eligible (this number continues to rise year over year)

• Parents are highly encouraged to create a FAMILY Connection account.
• Family Connection allows your student to:• Get involved in the planning and advising process – Build a resume,
complete online surveys, and manage timelines and deadlines for making decisions about colleges and careers
• Research colleges – Compare GPA, standardized test scores, and other statistics to actual historical data from our school for students who have applied and been admitted in the past
• Research careers – Research hundreds of careers and career clusters, and take career assessments
• Create plans for the future – Create goals and to-dos, and complete tasks assigned by the school to better prepare your student for future college and career goals. (Classroom visits)
• 9th graders: Focus on self exploration. Personality assessments to assist students in exploring their strengths and different themes.
Students: Mrs. Klaus will assist with initial login during class first few weeks of school.
