Welcome and Invocation

Worship Song He Is Exalted No. 2070

He is the Lord, forever his truth shall reign Heaven and Earth, rejoice in his holy name. He is exalted. The King is exalted on High.

Ringing the Bell

Prelude This Is My Father’s World Arr. Sorenson

Hymn of Praise Be Thou My Vision No. 451

1. Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart; naught be all else to me, save that thou art. Thou my best thought by day or by night, waking or sleeping, thy presence my light.

3. Great God of heaven, my victory won, may I reach heaven's joys, O bright heaven's Sun! Heart of my own heart, whatever befall, Still be my vision, O Ruler of all.

2. Be thou my wisdom, and thou my true word; I ever with thee and thou with me, Lord; thou and thou only, first in my heart, great God of heaven, my treasure thou art.

Affirmation of Faith We Believe In God

1. We believe in God, the creator of all things, the giver of life and breath. We believe in Jesus Christ, born Emmanuel, God with us, baptized and revealed the most beloved Son of God; he sought to heal humanity by taking our brokenness upon himself, suffering for us, dying for us and being raised from the dead for our sake and for the sake of all the world. We believe that he will come again.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, continually poured out refreshing our lives, leading us into a new day, ever-birthing the church, the body of Christ in the world. This Spirit is our soul companion and counselor of truth reminding us of the gift of faith, the ever presence of God and the promise of eternal life. Thanks be to God! Amen.

Gloria Patri No. 70

1. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, And to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: World without end. Amen.

Celebrating the Mission

Hymn of Prayer Lord, Speak to Me No. 463

1. Lord, speak to me, that I may speak in living echoes of thy tone; as thou hast sought, so let me seek thine erring children lost and lone.

4. O fill me with your fullness, Lord, until my very heart o'erflow in kindling thought and glowing word, thy love to tell, your praise to show.

2. O strengthen me, that while I stand firm on the rock, and strong in thee, I may stretch out a loving hand to wrestlers with the troubled sea.

5. O use me, Lord, use even me, just as thou wilt, and when and where; until thy blessed face I see, thy rest, thy joy, thy glory share.

3. O teach me, Lord, that I may teach the precious things thou dost impart; and wing my words, that they may reach the hidden depths of many a heart.

Prayer of the Day / Lord’s Prayer

Hymn of Grace Jesus Loves Me No. 191

1. Jesus loves me! This I know, for the Bible tells me so. Little ones to him belong; they are weak, but he is strong.

2. Jesus loves me! This I know, as he loved so long ago, taking children on his knee, saying, "Let them come to me." [Refrain]

Refrain: Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.

3. Jesus loves me still today, Walking with me on my way, Wanting as a friend to give Light and love to all who live. [Refrain]

Scripture and Message The B Side: Lydia Acts 16:11-15

3. Living for Jesus wherever I am doing each duty in his holy name, willing to suffer affliction or loss, deeming each trial a part of my cross. [Refrain]

Refrain: O Jesus, Lord and Savior, I give myself to thee, for thou in thy atonement, didst give thyself for me; I own no other master, my heart shall be thy throne, my life I give, henceforth to live, O Christ, for thee alone.

4. Living for Jesus through earth’s little while, my dearest treasure, the light of his smile, seeking the lost ones he died to redeem, bringing the weary to find rest in him. [Refrain]

What’s Happening?

Chalk the Parking Lot! Saturday, August 22nd starting at 9 a.m. Let's share Christ's love with our community. Come to the church and write your favorite Bible verse on a parking spot and decorate it. We will provide the parking slot and the chalk, you provide the inspiration! Come as a family or as an individual. Be creative! To keep everyone safe and maintain social distancing, we ask that you sign up for the time you would like to chalk your parking spot. Please visit: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040548A8AB2FA3F58-chalk to sign up for a time and submit the Bible verse you would like to display!

Chalk the Parking Lot is more than just an event to allow us to beautify the parking lot! It is to help mark which parking slots are “open” for our first Tailgate Church! Sunday, August 23rd at 8:30 a.m. everyone is invited to join Pastor Jeff in the south parking lot (in the undecorated slots!) for modern worship. We ask that you remain within your parking slot but encourage you to socially distance fellowship.

As many of you know, John and I have been working with a non-profit 501c3 called Transplant Recipients International Organization (TRIO for short). Our Central Texas Chapter is almost finished building a transplant hospitality house in Temple near Baylor Scott & White. The members of the chapter have named the house in memory of our daughter Amy Firth who was a multiple organ and tissue donor November 2012. Amy was a member here at First Methodist Belton and actually was responsible for us coming to the church and joining. Amy's House has bedrooms for 8 families, a large kitchen, dining, living area, as well as a conference room, office, laundry, and flex room. Through the years that we have been working on the house, many members of the congregation have donated generously to help us build the house. Now we getting ready to open the house. Altrusa in Temple and our chapter are hosting a virtual housewarming to help make the house a home. We have registries at three places and would be very grateful if any of you would consider purchasing an item from the registries. Here are links to the registries. if you make a purchase, please let me know who you are, so we can send proper thanks. Sheets, blankets, pillows, towels, are much needed. If you prefer to simply donate, I'll be happy to receive a check or there is a donate button on our website www.triocentraltexas.org along with more information about the organization and photos of Amy's House. Call me at 254-698-1988 or email at [email protected] for any questions about other needs for the house (we also are in need of patio furniture and money to pay for a computer, patient room televisions, and a printer I have ordered at Best Buy).

Reflect On…

1. Describe at least one of your deep spiritual experiences?

1. Describe the distinction between a nominal Christian and a passionate Christian.

Prayer Requests

Philippians 1:5-6 5 I’m glad because of the way you have been my partners in the ministry of the gospel from the time you first believed it until now. 6 I’m sure about this: the one who started a good work in you will stay with you to complete the job by the day of Christ Jesus.
