We are working to a new national curriculumWe also have a new assessment system – no more levels!Expectations have moved up significantly – generally about a
year ahead than now.This means some children who were working at national
average before will now be assessed at below average.We will be working hard to fill any gaps and accelerate

New homework guidelines – put together after working with parents, children and staff (over 200 parents contributed)
Aim of homework is to supportExpectations for Year 5:
- reading at least 3 times a week (recorded in planner)
- weekly maths task (Schofield and Sims book; marked on a Friday)
- weekly grammar task (Schofield and Sims book;
marked on a Friday)
- spellings to practise each week (varied assessment e.g. dictation task, multiple choice etc on a Monday)
We will check and sign homework planners every FridayOccasional topic-based projects

BEHAVIOUR POLICY
Positive verbal praise and/or positive written praise in books In class ‘rocket’ – each time someone moves up, points are earned

SAFEGUARDING AND E-SAFETY
Please make £8 payments to the enrichment fund either by parentpay or sending in cash.
TRIPS, ENRICHMENT FUND AND PSA
Enrichment Fund:Funds whole school , year group and class events that enrich and extend the curriculum.
Educational Visits PSA:Provide us with extras through fundraising events which are outside of school hours eg. Discos, Chirstmas and summer fairs, mothers day tray sale.
Some of the things the enrichment fund has paid for this year are:Christmas discoReading journalsCooking ingredientsChristmas play (The Snow Goose)Arts and craft materialsHomework books
These rely on voluntary contributions from parent/ carers. Without these we cannot go ahead with planned visits. Financial support may be available on request.
