This year’s Biennial Convention is a welcome opportunity for Liberals from across the country to gather and focus on bringing forward the policies and priorities which will help shape the party as we move into an election year. 2015 promises to be an exciting year for our party but 2014 will truly be the year of Hope and Hard Work. It is in that spirit that I would like to welcome you all to the Convention and thank you for your dedication towards building a stronger Liberal Party and a stronger Canada. As Chair of the Liberal Women’s Caucus, I am lucky enough to work with a wonderful group of women (and men) who are dedicated to ensuring the priorities of women are reflected in the work of Parliament. One vital step towards achieving that goal is to increase the number of women serving in the House of Commons. To that end, I hope we can count on your support to make sure that in 2015 we have more women in our Liberal Caucus that ever before. As we gather this weekend to both celebrate past successes and plan for future ones, I hope you can take a few minutes to get to know some the fantastic women running for the Liberal nomination across the country and find a way to support them. There are so many ways you can help: get involved with your local executive and help in the search for women candidates, volunteer on a nomination or election campaign or donate to the campaign of a great woman candidate. I am certain you will find it a worthwhile investment. Sincerely, Hon. Carolyn Bennett, M.D. M.P., St. Paul’s

WELCOME FROM KIRSTY DUNCAN

! Welcome to our extraordinary women from coast to coast to coast!! I want to wish each of you a great convention--one where you meet up with old friends, and make new ones, one where you leave with new ideas to make your community a little better, and one where you leave excited and inspired to do more for our great country.! I want to thank you for your emails, Facebook posts, telephone calls and tweets.

There is nothing I like more than hearing from you, and more importantly, hearing your ideas!! I’m looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible this weekend, to discussing possibilities, to believing, and to making real change.! Like our amazing new Leader, I believe that we can give our middle class relief and provide working families with a road to opportunity.! Together, let’s work for a better Canada for all women and girls, and indeed all Canadians.! Let’s have a great convention!

MORE WOMEN ON BOARD: CONGRATULATIONS GENEVIÈVE HINSE!Dear Liberal friends, I am proud to address you as the next National Vice President (French) of the Liberal Party of Canada. I was recently elected by acclamation and it is with great enthusiasm and humility that I shall fulfill this role in the course of the next two years as of our next convention. The NWLC’s work is important and I am looking forward to exchanging ideas with you. I am also looking forward to meeting many of you at the next convention in Montreal. More than ever, we must encourage women to jump in and increase women’s presence and visibility in our party. On a more personal note, since the beginning of my professional career, I have worked in federal, provincial and municipal politics – but it was a Liberal, Senator Céline Hervieux-Payette, who gave me my first chance in politics, and another Liberal, Anna Gainey, who inspired me and encouraged me to run to become VP of our party. If you’d like to find out more about me, you can read my bio on my website, or follow me on Facebook or Twitter @GenevieveHinse. Looking forward to meeting you! Geneviève Hinse
