The SolutionThe solution to this problem was designed, manufactured and installed byLink Lockers and The City and Holbeck Division of West Yorkshire Police isnow benefiting from a comprehensive refurbishment at its headquarters inLeeds. Central to the refurbishment are locker facilities for 460 officers.Importantly, each locker combines conventional personal storage with unitsthat are purpose designed to accommodate new personal issue PSUequipment.

Separate female and male changing areas have now been fitted withindividual locker and PSU cages that carry up to date personal issueequipment as specified by the Home Office. Both lockers and cages areaccessible via keys assigned to individual officers. The majority of the facilityalso benefits from wooden bench seating, installed by Link Lockers tocompliment the locker instillation and deliver a comfortable changingenvironment.

The mesh cages are located directly underneath the full height lockers whichthemselves provide both changing and shelf storage. The cage design is theresult of detailed discussions and assessment between Link Lockers and theclient and the resulting bespoke solution accommodates the precisedimensions of the new PSU bags. The overall layout also takes intoconsideration variable ceiling heights and room configurations, includingexisting ducting and pillars and therefore makes optimum use of the existingfloor space.
