VENUE INFORMATIONAll concerts take place in the Merchants House, 7 West George Street, Glasgow, G2 1BA (just opposite the exit to Queen Street Station). Doors open at 12 noon and concerts begin at 12.45pm, lasting for about one hour.

THURSDAY 4TH SEPTEMBER 2014 DANIEL PETRICIA CIOBANUDaniel Petricia Ciobanu comes to Westbourne to open our 2014/15 sea-son! The talented young Romanian pianist will perform a programme of works by J.S.Bach, Rachmaninoff and Chopin.

AMICI CELLO TRIORelax into the harmonious sounds of three cellos as the Amici Cello Trio play the music of Beethoven, Kodaly, Faure and Pärt. A wonderful afternoon of string music!

THURSDAY 2ND OCTOBER 2014

ATHENAEUM WINDSThis young wind quintet are quickly making a name for themselves on the Scottish chamber music circuit. They will perform the world premiere of a new work by Oliver Searle as the centre piece for their programme of music. Sponsored by Enterprise Music Scotland.

THURSDAY 16TH OCTOBER 2014

ANDREW MCTAGGARTSince his recent appointment as a Scottish Opera ‘Emerging Artist’, Baritone singer Andrew McTaggart’s career has gone from strength to strength. He brings a themed programme of ‘A Century of English Song’ to Westbourne, celebrating the music of Roger Quilter and Ivor Gurney, amongst others.

HOOTHarp and flute duo, Hoot will present an eclectic programme, showcas-ing a new work written for them by Edward McGuire alongside works by Bach, Stephen Dodgson and Gareth Farr.

EDINBURGH QUARTETWe are once again delighted to be welcoming back one of the UK’s most established chamber groups, the Edinburgh Quartet. This concert, the first of two performances from the Quartet in our 2014/15 season, will feature Haydn Op.54 no.2 and the Debussy string quartet.

LORI WATSON & FIONA BLACKLori Watson (fiddle) and Fiona Black (accordion) come to Westbourne to celebrate St Andrew’s Day with a programme of Scottish instrumental music and songs. NEW ZEALAND CHAMBER SOLOISTSWe are excited to welcome this antipodean piano trio to Glasgow. Comprising some of their homeland’s foremost chamber musicians, the New Zealand Chamber Soloists will perform Dvorak Trio in F alongside music by New Zealand based composer, John Psathas.

AARON SHORRAmerican pianist Aaron Shorr has made Glasgow his home where he is head of the piano department at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. We look forward to having this internationally establish soloist at Westbourne!

RAUCOUS ROSSINIA performance of Rossini’s comedy one act opera ‘La Cambiale di Matrimonio’, comprising 6 singers and a 19 piece orchestra conducted by Maximillian Fane. It’s sure to be a season highlight!

GOVERNOR’S RECITAL PRIZE FOR CHAMBER MUSIC | WINNER’S RECITALAnother opportunity to catch a young chamber music ensemble on the ascent, as the winners of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s chamber music prize perform at the Merchant’s Hall. Kindly supported by The Mary Andrews Trust.

NEW FOCUS DUOPianist Euan Stevenson and saxophonist Konrad Wiszniewski have been performing together for almost a decade. The award winning jazz duo will present an enjoyable and eclectic programme which includes the music of Cole Porter, Mozart and Duke Ellington.

MAXWELL QUARTETWe welcome back recently selected Park Lane Group Young Artists, the Maxwell Quartet. Whilst the Quartet are building a reputation for their diverse programming and collaborations, they return to more traditional fare for this concert with Schubert’s String Quartet No. 15 taking centre stage.

THURSDAY 9TH APRIL 2015

AGNEW/MCALLISTER DUOAisling Agnew & Matthew McAllister will perform a wonderfully diverse programme showcasing the wealth of music encompassed by the popular combination of Flute & Guitar. This recital for will include Sonata BWV 1034 by J.S.Bach alongside music from the Duo’s native countries of Scotland and Ireland.

SPENCER/STRACHAN DUOAlthough still emerging musicians, Rachel Spencer (violin) and Duncan Strachan (cello) are prolific chamber music performers across the UK. On their debut performance at Westbourne as a duo, they will perform Ravel’s Sonata for Violin and Cello.

GORDON BRAGG & JAMES WILLSHIRESince first meeting as students at the Guildhall of Music, violinist Gordon Bragg and pianist James Willshire have been performing together ever since. We look forward to welcoming this dynamic duo to Merchant’s Hall to hear works by Mozart, Bartok and Respighi.

AUREA QUARTETThis year’s St Martin-in-the-Fields chamber music prize winners, the Aurea Quartet are the string quartet to watch at the moment. The Glasgow based post graduate students will perform a programme including Lathja Quartet No.7. Sponsored by Enterprise Music Scotland

THURSDAY 4TH JUNE 2015

EDINBURGH QUARTETWestbourne favourites, the Edinburgh Quartet, return for their second performance of the season with a programme featuring Webern’s ‘Langsamer Satz’ and Beethoven’s Op.18 no.3.

ENSEMBLE 13Ending the season with a bang will be a collective comprised of top players from the country’s national orchestras coming together to perform Mozart’s Serenade for 13 winds. One not to be missed!
