Sport Awards 1

The annual Sport Awards is a highlight on our department’s calendar, and for good reason. The extraordinary achievements of men and women who excelled on their terrain, overcoming the challenges on their way, should be celebrated. The Awards acknowledges your achievements, and pays tribute to your exemplary role in the development of sport, and motivating people to achieve more.

Sport is a game changer in our society. The achievers set the example of what can be attained through hard work, and is a building block towards creating wellness, creating a safe society and tackling social ills.

Our government and department’s vision towards a socially inclusive, creative and active Western Cape, can be facilitated through opportunities in sport.

Opportunities empower citizens to live the life they choose. I believe it is government’s role to facilitate opportunities for all our people. Our provincial government’s dream of “The Open Opportunity
