• Westfal –Larsen is a group of companies owned by the Westfal-Larsen family.

• The core business is to provide marine transportation services.

• The group is also engaged in real-estate, trade and new ventures.

History • Westfal-Larsen was founded in 1905 in Bergen,

Norway. • The liner trade on US West Coast and Latin America

and chemical tankers are important elements. • Co-founders of Star Shipping in 1962. • Started co-operation in the chemical tanker sector with

Odfjell in 1964, later to become Odfjell Westfal-Larsen Tankers AS in 1980.

• Sold out of the chemical tanker sector in 1990. • WL´s holdings in Star Shipping was transferred to

newly established Masterbulk in Singapore in 1995. • 2008 – Split of Star Shipping and founding of • Westfal-Larsen Shipping

Personnel • The WL companies employ about 1100 people world wide. • The largest group of employees are 950

seafarers from the Philippines. • The second largest group are 100 seafarers

from Latvia/East Europe. • About 120 persons are employed in the

shipping offices in Bergen, Singapore ,Manila, Livorno, Rio De Janeiro, Dubai and Shanghai.

pictures/documents/reports • Prepare for access to onboard components

from supplier’s service team • Ship Management Business systems with

Moving forward - XpressLink

• Ongoing upgrade project • Upgrades to XpressLink completed during 1st

half of 2013. • High speed VSAT and FleetBroadband combined • Fixed monthly cost regardless of which carrier

is in use (bye bye additional comms. cost) • 100 % internet coverage • Global roaming IP (1 fixed public IP address per

vessel) • Prepared for GX / Ka-band (2014 is just around

the corner) • Increased bandwidth

Moving forward - XpressLink

• XpressLink – technology / business impact: • Simplified infrastructure setup (1 public IP) • Increased bandwidth • Fleet firewall service • Video conferencing (?) • Real-time information provided ashore on
