Once again it’s time for Operation Christmas Child! Shoeboxes and
informational materials are available in the narthex. You can fill these boxes
with toys and other appropriate gifts that will be sent to children around the
world. Boxes will be collected Nov. 15 and 22.
NorthStar “Thrive” Fall Youth Gathering—Youth will meet at Westwood
at 3:30 p.m. today to carpool to Calvary Hill Baptist, where we’ll join youth
from churches all over Northern Virginia for worship, dinner, and fellowship.
We’ll also hear about the increase of homelessness in Northern Virginia.
Please bring a pair of new or gently used winter boots for donation to shelters
in our area.
Adult Seminar—Dr. Abernathy and Rev. Gray continue with the second
week of a four-session video-based seminar on the life of Dietrich
Bonhoeffer. We are discussing the major themes of Bonhoeffer’s writing and
his impact on the faith community in Germany during World War II and
throughout the world today. We begin at 6:30 p.m. in Room 204.
The popular Semi-Annual ECHO Yard Sale will be held this Saturday, Oct.
31, 8 a.m.-noon at St. Bernadette’s Church gymnasium, 7600 Old Keene Mill
Road. Proceeds benefit ECHO.
Trunk or Treat Is Coming this Saturday and we still need more cars! This
super fun event for everyone is this Saturday, Oct. 31, from 4-5 p.m. (setup is
at 3:30). This is a chance for kids to “treat or treat” from cars right in our
parking lot. See our poster in the narthex for trunk decorating ideas and to
sign up.
Next Sunday we will begin taking orders for Christmas Poinsettias at the
Welcome Center. Plants are $10 each, payable at time of order in cash or by
check.
Daylight Saving Time Ends next weekend. When the Halloween excitement
on Saturday has passed, remember to set your clocks back one hour. Don’t be
a disappointed early bird on Sunday morning. Fall back!
ECHO Thanksgiving Baskets—If you would like to provide a Thanksgiving
basket to a needy family identified by ECHO, please contact Dick Marvin by
next Sunday, Nov. 1. This is a great project for a family or Sunday School
class.
A Church Work Day is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 14 at 9 a.m. Grab your
rake, gloves, leaf blower, etc. and join in this churchwide event.
The Quarterly Church Conference will be held Sunday evening, Nov. 22, at
7 p.m. in the music suite. Please mark this date.
This week we’d like to stock up the Church Food Pantry on peanut butter.
Thank you for your support of this important ministry to our community

and Stephen Gray to the glory of God and in honor of Ainsley’s birthday on
