The first Welcoming event of the yearWelcome to Shelbyville

ated awareness about the reality of the immigrant experience.

We met many of you at St. Andrews Dia Das Crianca. Many

stopped by our table to find out more about about the Welcoming

movement. Others shared their stories with us and wrote it as yousee in the picture. Thanks to St. Andrews Episcopal Church forallowing us to hold a table at their wonderful event filled with

    Brazilian culture!

The Cross Cultural Coffee was a good platform for learning the personal

immigration stories of our neighbors and fellow community members. The

event allowed us to build connections over our shared experiences.

Through the Wine & Cheese of theWorld Night, we were able to pro-

mote understanding around the im-portance of integrating our immigrant

neighbors into the social fabric of our

    town.

OurHoliday Pot Luckfeatured, Denis Lemos, a hard working Brazilian

raised in Framingham who aspired to become an engineer. The Student

Immigrant Movement leaders inspirational immigration story renewedour dedication to the initiative.

build understanding across communities and create a more welcomingtown! We have many exciting events planned for next year, get involved

    The Welcoming Framingham Mission

Welcoming Framingham aims to open hearts and minds towards a

positive integration of immigrants and refugees into the social fabric

of our town. We recognize there are challenges, and will overcomethem through conversation and gatherings between diverse groups in

our community about our shared values and cultural contributions.Through education, social and cultural activities engaging immi-

grants and non-immigrant audiences, we want to build a sensible un-

derstanding of the immigrant community that would ensure that

both residents and newcomers can feel at home here in Framingham.
