Ask your child to choose one of the four story cards included: a. A young boy stepping outside into the rain without a coat or an umbrella b. Mum carrying rubbish bins that are wobbling around, walking towards the end of the drive c. A small girl kicking a football outdoors, near a greenhouse d. A young boy making a sandcastle while his sister tiptoes behind him with a bucket full of water 2. Using whichever story card your child selects, ask them what they think is happening in the picture and what they predict might happen next 3. Once your child has predicted what might happen, show them the outcome card to see whether their prediction was the same as the outcome of the story 4. Ask your child what the person in the story could do differently next time to change their outcome 5. Ask your child if there’s anything the person from the story might have learned from what happened to them in the picture, e.g.: a. Bring an umbrella/wear a raincoat b. Don’t fill the bins so full, or ask someone to help you carry them c. Make sure you play football in an open space, away from anything fragile that could get broken d.
