The KY LAKE CHAMBER in Marshall County is a network of businesses working to-gether. It is the central agency that provides leadership for promotion and advancementof economic vitality and quality of life for the area it serves. The chamber’s strength liesin its membership, enabling them to accomplish collectively what they may not be able

to do individually. As the “Front Door” of the community, the CHAMBER welcomesbusiness prospects, newcomers, visitors and all others making inquiry of the communityand maintains a library of information to help in these matters. Newcomer InformationAuto License Plates

Kentucky Law requires a person who brings a vehicle into the state to make application to the County Clerk, Marshall County Court House (527-4740), in Benton for registration within 30 days. You will need proof of ownership, and also proof of having liability insurance on the car. If sales or use taxhas been paid to another state, present proof for eligibility for a tax credit, otherwise use tax on the present market value of the car will be charged. Passen-ger car plates are $ 15.00 per year plus the amount of property tax. Truck plates are $ 15.00 per year plus the amount of property tax.

Driver’s LicenseA Kentucky driver’s license should be applied for as soon as possible. The out-of-state license will be accepted for Kentucky’s road test, but a writ-

ten test and eye test are required. Fee is $ 8 for four years and should be renewed in the person’s birth month. Apply to Circuit Court Clerk, MarshallCounty Judicial Building (527-3883) within 10 days after residence is established.

Registering To VoteYou must be 18 years of age by Election Day to vote. You may register in the Marshall County Clerk’s Office, in the Court House. You must have

lived in Kentucky 30 days to vote in any election. For more information, contact the County Court Clerk, Marshall County Courthouse (527-4740).

Health FacilitiesMarshall County Hospital is located in Benton and is a brand new 25 bed Critical Access Hospital that offers a wide range of inpatient and outpa-

tient services. Services include: ambulance and emergency services 24 hours a day, seven days a week; acute and intensive care as well as satellite officesfor physicians and surgeons; laboratory; cardiopulmonary; radiology; rehabilitation such as physical, occupational, speech and language pathology; homehealth; alone with general, orthopedic and other specialized surgeries. Marshall County Hospital offers professional medical care from ten active staff and35 courtesy staff physicians.

LakeWay Nursing and Rehabilitation, which has 96 intermediate and personal care beds, is located in Benton. Calvert City Convalescent Centeralso has 100 intermediate and personal care beds. Oakview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, which is located near Possum Trot on Highway 62, has 18 per-sonal care and 96 skilled care beds.

Public RecreationOpportunities for outdoor recreation are abundant in Marshall County. Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park and Kenlake State Resort Park,

both located in Marshall County are two of the finest in the State Park system. County and municipal recreational facilities are operated by Marshall Countyand the cities of Benton, Calvert City, and Hardin. Both State Parks, the Benton and Calvert City Country Clubs and Marvel Golf Club have golf courses tochallenge the golf enthusiast. Tennis courts are available in the Mike Miller County Park, Benton, Calvert City, and Hardin City Parks and the two StateParks, including an indoor tennis facility at Kenlake State Park. Marshall County has several lakefront day use areas with playgrounds, picnic facilities, boatlaunch ramps and docks.Mike Miller County Park, one of Marshall County’s newest additions, offers picnic pavillions, soccer fields, walking trails, playground, baseball/softballfields, basketball and tennis courts, disc golf course and a small lake to fish in.

Kentucky Lake provides swimming, fishing, skiing, and pleasure boating opportunities. Land Between the Lakes offers fishing, hunting, hiking, na-ture study, camping, study groups and miscellaneous programs.

For the "Golden Years"Marshall County has a very active Senior Citizens Program which is provided to persons over 55 years of age. Three senior citizens centers are

found throughout the county located in the north(Calvert City), central(Benton), and south(Hardin), to provide a place for recreation, crafts, entertainment,health services, and various activities.

Marshall County also has an organization called Marshall County Caring. This organization is a group of concerned people helping their neigh-bors in their time of need. They offer programs such as the Needline, which provides food, clothing, utilities, rent and medical needs, the Emergency FoodBank, and the Commodity Distribution.

Marshall County has a lot to offer the retiree. Whether you like fishing, boating on Kentucky Lake, participating in activities, clubs, organizations,or just relaxing, Marshall County has it all.
