WHAT’S HAPPENING AT ALDERSGATE
Family Christmas Craft & Movie Night (Includes a Silly Christmas Sock Contest) November 30 from 6:30 pm - 8:45 pm This is a family event for children Preschool - 5th Grade. Families will stay and make Christmas crafts, enjoy a yummy treat and watch a movie together. To make it even more fun this year, we are adding a Silly Sock Contest. Instead of an "ugly sweater" contest we will have a silly sock contest. So start looking for the "Silliest Christmas Socks" now! Invite friends and their families. Will you be an Aldersgate Angel to Someone this Christmas? It's time to continue sharing God’s love to our neighbors by helping agencies and individuals during this blessed time of year. We can all make a difference by selecting a tag off one of the three Angel Trees located outside the Sanctuary and FLC. The trees will be setup by November 18 and will be loaded with wishes from the following: Silence of Mary Home - Shalom House - Daystar Recovery - Bridge of Hope Allison Hill - Community Cares in Carlisle – Bethesda Mission Women’s Shelter Sergei and Family (Translator from Krichev Church)
Once you select your tag, please fill out your name and phone number and place it in the decorated box near the tree. This will help us keep track of how many wishes need to be fulfilled or if we cannot locate the specific item when all of the gifts are returned to the church. All gifts should be returned no later than December 12. Please place all gifts in a gift bag - do not wrap the gift. All gift cards that are returned should be put into the envelope attached and returned to the Angel Tree Box on Sunday Mornings.
Our church family has always been so generous with “Reaching with the Heart of God for the Lives of Our Community.” Let us make the Angel Tree no exception. CALLING ALL BRASS INSTRUMENTS We invite YOU to come play at Aldersgate's Live Nativity ON SUNDAY, December 16th We will be holding rehearsals on Monday nights November 19, Dec 3 & Dec 10th. At Aldersgate in rooms 206/208 upstairs 6:30- 8:00 p.m. These rehearsals are for the music ensemble that plays at the Living Nativity. Music provided. Anyone with instrument experience wanting to join in can show up or contact Lisa Underdonk @717-730-0569 for more details. The Living Nativity event is Sunday, December 16th at 6 pm.
Final Calendar Collection is December 2 Deadline to collect 2019 calendars is Sunday, December 2. This is set by the prison. All calendars go to the Muncy Women’s Correctional Prison. We have received over 100! Thanks! Please give to the Sollenbergers 717-730-2890.

Join us for a time of refreshment and fellowship in our Family Life Center following the 8 am and 9:30 am services. We are glad you are with us today to worship!

Poinsettia Orders Once again, Fulton Bank’s Dillsburg office is holding a Poinsettia Sale! We have decided to purchase our poinsettias from them because their proceeds benefit New Hope Ministries. Please see the green insert for details.

Dogs for God This ministry consists of a group of caring individuals called to spread the joy, happiness and the name of Christ using the assistance of their bonded relationships with their dogs to reach the elderly, homebound, hospitalized, etc. The dates this week for those serving in this ministry are: Mon, Nov 19th @ 7:00 pm – The Children’s Home and Tues, Nov 20th @ 6:30 pm - The Jewish Home. Youth Mental Health First Aid Training Saturday January 5th Aldersgate will be hosting a Youth Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training presented by the Mental Wellness Awareness Association’s nationally certified instructors on Sat., Jan. 5, 2019. This Youth MHFA training is for adults who wish to help youth ages 11 through 17. The 8-hour training is provided at no-cost for all United Methodists through offerings received from the churches of the Susquehanna United Methodist Conference. If you have youth and/or are involved in Youth Ministry you may be interested in taking this course. We understand Christmas may be a difficult time for you this year and invite you to join us for this special heartfelt Christmas service. No Revolution Youth Tonight No Youth tonight due to Fall Retreat. Youth do not meet 11/25 due to Thanksgiving. See you again December 2 for meal night.
Cookie Walk—December 9 Revolution Youth will be holding our annual cookie walk on December 9 from 8 to 11:15 am. Parents & youth are asked to provide 5 to 10 dozen cookies per youth to sell to the congregation. Delivery times are Friday, December 7 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm & Sat, Dec 8 from 9 to 11 am. Congregation - please to stop by the FLC on December 9 to check out the delicious array of Christmas cookies, candy, fudge and other confectionery treats. Gluten-free and sugar-free items are available and cookies with nuts will be labeled for those with food allergies. All cookies and other items will be sold by the pound. You may give them as gifts or eat them on the way home! Cookie tins also will be available to make gift giving easier. All proceeds will help reduce costs of Revolution youth events

Stewardship of Our Financial Gifts & Our Presence For November 11, 2018 Together, We Give Faithfully Because Of God’s Great Faithfulness. Our 2018 $944,625 Spending Plan for Ministry in 2018 calls for weekly tithes and offerings of $18,166.
Our Year-to-Date Offerings: $783,003.43 Our Year-to-Date Projected Need: $817,464
*Life groups are groups that come together to connect, study and serve Jesus with our lives.
Aldersgate is a "Safe Sanctuary Church" “Safe Sanctuary” means that all ministry staff and volunteers working with children or youth under age 18 (and vulnerable adults) have obtained the appropriate Pennsylvania and FBI criminal and child-welfare clearances, and have received direction for compliance with Safe Sanctuary Policy of The United Methodist Church. Your children - God's children - are important to us! Any questions regarding Safe Sanctuary and how to obtain the clearances, etc. can be directed to Melanie Feldner, Director of Children’s Ministries, who oversees Safe Sanctuary here at Aldersgate.

Remember Where We Came From! Two weeks ago we looked back at 30 years of Aldersgate
history. For our 10 year anniversary, 500 replicas of the
original church building were made. There are some left. If
you would like one to take home for your bookshelf to remind
your family of our roots, they are available at the Welcome
Center in exchange for a donation that will be applied to the
building loan.
We want to invite you… to come alongside Aldersgate and specifically the mission that God has given us to reach the community with the heart of Jesus. We believe we serve a God that can do immeasurably more, and every time we make a decision to be generous, we discover that our God refuses to be out-given.
So thank you in advance for your faithfulness in filling out the enclosed Commitment Card. We will be gathering them next week to celebrate God’s faithfulness in our lives and in the life of our church. Each decision made helps us to plan for the ways that God is directing the ministry of Aldersgate.
