What should we do in case of fire?
1 Oil fires while cooking
To put out the fire, turn off the gas supply. cover the flames with a lid or plate. cover the pan or wok with a wet cloth to cool
the fire. do not pour water onto the burning oil. do not carry a pan of burning oil.
2 Fires on electrical equipment
To put out the fire, switch off the electricity supply at the
mains or unplug the appliance. use dry powder or carbon dioxide fire
extinguishers. do not pour water on electrical
equipment.
3 Burning clothes
To put out the fire,
• lie down immediately and then ‘drop and roll’, that is, roll across the floor.
• wrap yourself in a blanket, curtain or towel, etc. while rolling on the floor.
• call for medical aid at once.

• If you cannot put out the fire, call an adult to help you at once.
