NEW Community Café @ St
Mark’s Community Centre
St Marks Community Centre has been completely refurbished as part of this exciting project. The building had been out of use for a number of years and was in desperate need of a makeover to bring it back to life!
So, St Marks Church Council called upon their friends at Derby Homes to help them secure the building for future generations.
Derby Homes has a keen interest in supporting community projects and a network of tradespeople, contractors and suppliers to help! Derby Homes apprentices were given the challenge of looking at the building and coming up with their own solutions to refurbish the building.
Derby Homes also awarded a grant to repair the roof in addition to funding a quantity of materials for the apprentices to use. The project also received a grant towards equipment from Derby City Council.
But to complete the work would require a few more helping hands, and so Derby Homes called upon a number of their contacts, contractors and suppliers to help.
Everyone involved in the project would like to say a huge thank you to the following…
Bell Decorating Group Ltd - for redecorating the whole building for FREE with paint donated by Johnstone’s Paint.
Allsopp & McLeod Builders - for making the building safe!
NB Autos Mechanic, Shardlow - for helping us with transport, storage and vehicles.
Cavendish Bridge Interiors - for the kitchen fitting, and so many other jobs we’ve lost count!
The Princes Trust at Derby College and the Wilmorton Residents Association - for the creation of the new community garden.
Derby College Apprentices, Broomfield Hall - for repairing all the pathways and tree works.
Elvidges Joinery and Glazing - for repairing the windows.
County Roofing (Leicester) Ltd - for repairing the roof.
Dedicated Active Dads - for donating a laptop. Sinfin Community Centre - for their time and
expertise, and sharing their secrets of how to manage a successful community centre!
And finally, the many volunteers who have cleaned, painted and supported the project!
A helping hand to bring St Marks Community Centre back to life...
Finally, we would like to recognise the partnership that has made this dream a reality; and say thank you to Derby Homes, the vicar Romita Shrisunder and St Marks Church Council and Rob Shade & Mark
Gerowski from ASPIRE Wrestling.
We would like to introduce
Rob Shade who is the
Manager at ASPIRE
Wrestling Academy (pictured left)
and Mark Gerowski (pictured right) who is the new Apprentice.
There is also an small army of volunteers who help manage the
Centre. They all welcome you to ASPIRE Wrestling Academy
@ St Marks Community Centre, so please call in and say hello
and find out what’s on offer!
