SCHOOL CASH ONLINEPAYMENT SYSTEM -SIGN UP AND WIN!
Hello Copeland Families,
On behalf of all Copeland staff, we would like to wisheveryone a very Happy New Year and a warm "WelcomeBack" to school!
The New Year often marks the setting of goals. What bettertime could there be to set some goals to promote evenbetter work habits at home? Here are some great tips: - having a designated space for working on homework - preparing necessary materials before going to bed - setting alarms five minutes earlier to ensure punctuality - using an organizer to prioritize tasks and deadlines - making a plan for what lunches to pack for the week
Parents we need your help with a few goals as well: -Help students enter the school on time at 9:00 am -Drivers should turn right at our exits without Administrator reminders -Help us reduce the numbers of interruptions or calls made into class during the day. We want our instructional time to remain focused and purposeful.
Whatever goals you pursue this year, we wish you all thebest, and we look forward to a great rest of term 1! Mrs. Rathbone and Mrs. Hassanwalia

Coming Up at Copeland...
Apply for Grade 1 FrenchImmersion by Jan. 27, 2017
If your child will be starting grade 1 in September
2017, one of the important choices you will make is
whether you want to consider French Immersion (FI).
To find out more about the program, visit
www.peelschools.org/French
The application form for grade 1 FI for the 201718
school year will be available online at
www.peelschools.org/French. The deadline to apply
is Friday, Jan. 27, 2017 at 4 p.m. Applications
received after the deadline will not be included in the
random selection process and will be placed on the
school’s waitlist. Since Copeland PS is a French
Immersion (FI) school, it is also the FI school for our
area.
Enrolment cap and random selection process
As there is a grade 1 FI enrolment cap in place, there
are a limited number of spots available for students
entering the program. The cap is set at 25 per cent of
all Peel students enrolled in grade 1. Spots are not
assigned on a first come, first served basis. A
random selection process system is used to identify
students gaining entrance into the grade 1 FI
program. All students who apply by the deadline will
be assigned a rank using a computerized random
selection process. Once students have been
assigned to all available spots, remaining students
will be placed, again in rank order, on the school's
waitlist. Each school has its own waitlist. Copeland PS is looking for lunchroom
supervisors to help when our regular staff is
unable to come in. Interested individuals are
invited to drop off their cover letter and
resume to the main office no later than FridayJanuary 27th, 2017.
Occasional LunchroomSupervisors Needed
Let's Groove at ourMove-a-thon in February!
There is no better way to shake off the winter blues
with some music and dancing! Copeland students
will be celebrating the joys of physical fitness with a
moveathon featuring disco lights, great music and
fun decorations on Thursday, February 16th.
In this February fundraising event, students will be
able to order glowwear products, such as glow
bracelets and rainbow beam bars. The money
raised will go towards purchasing classroom
activities and board game bins for students to enjoy
during inclementweather days where students have
indoor recess in their classrooms. Stay tuned!
What dance moves will you show off?
Reminder: Online Pizza and Sub Order Deadline:Monday January 16th 2017!
