WHAT'SINSIDE...

(Left to Right) David Ricketts, BuyBoard National Director; Valarie Wilson, GSBA Executive Direc-tor; and Steve Fisher, BuyBoard Director of Cooperative Services. Visit with David and Steve at the BuyBoard exhibit during the 2019 GSBA Summer Conference and Delegate Assembly.

GSBA is excited to announce GSBA BuyBoard®, a new FREE, value added service that is available to all GSBA members. GSBA BuyBoard is a national purchasing cooperative provided in partnership with the National School Boards associations across the country.

BuyBoard gives members the advantage of leveraging the Cooperative’s ability to obtain bulk discounts, combined with the ease of online, web-based shopping.

This nonprofit purchasing cooperative was started by the Texas Association of School Boards over 20 years ago and is setup to not only save your district time and money, but to also return funds directly back to Georgia to support public education.

Each year, our public school districts spend millions of dollars purchasing items to keep their schools running, equip their teachers and staff, and provide the support needed to serve their students. A major responsibility of the school board is to approve an annual budget that is fiscally responsible, maximizes taxpayer dollars, and allocates resources in the best way to serve students.

We hope you will take advantage of the many benefits of BuyBoard.

For more information about GSBA BuyBoard and how vendors and GSBA members can sign up, refer to pages 17 - 18

How do I become a vendor on BuyBoard? The first step is to register to receive e-mail notifications of proposal invitations. Once you receive your notification and respond to a proposal, it is presented to the Board of Trustees for awarding. If your company is awarded, you will receive notification of becoming an official contracted BuyBoard vendor.

How is the Buyboard cooperative different from other national purchasing cooperatives?BuyBoard is administered by a non-profit organization which means Georgia receives reinvestment back into public education via the GSBA BuyBoard. This coopera-tive allows flexibility to purchase what is needed. It also owns the entire contracting process from start to finish and is legally compliant in the state of Georgia.

What types of products can be purchased through Buyboard?Buyboard has an extensive product list ranging from instructional materials, software, turf, bleachers even vehicles large and small. A variety of products is available at discounts from manufacturers' prices.

Who can participate and what does it cost?Membership is free and open to all types of local govern-ment agencies. Revenue to operate the system and the Cooperative comes primarily from a service fee payable by participating vendors. The only exceptions to this are for vehicles. The Cooperative charges a flat amount per purchase order, regardless of the number of vehicles on the purchase order, as a service fee for the purchase of vehicles.

How does my entity join the Cooperative?Join the Cooperative at any time. As a best practice, public schools may need to execute a board resolution before completing the National Purchasing Cooperative Interlocal Participation Agreement. Nonprofit entities must use the Nonprofit Subscriber Agreement.

By joining the Cooperative, do we commit to ordering only from the BuyBoard? No. Members can choose to only purchase selected items or do all their purchasing from these discounted catalogs. After becoming a member, you choose how to participate, product category by product category, item by item.
