Year 5/6 Sportshall Athletics Competition

Congratulations to the athletes from Washingwell Primary School who were overall win-

ners of the Whickham Cluster Sportshall Athletics Competition for year 5 and 6 students.

Six teams took part and there was great competition in all events. Whickham year 12

students were well prepared and the event ran smoothly and successfully. Teams com-

peted in running races, hurdles, ball push, standing long jump, vertical jump and speed

bounce. The final events of the afternoon were the team relays which I am sure you all

heard from your respective schools!!!! The roof very nearly came off the Whickham

Sportshall.

Final results are below:

1st Washingwell 1621 points

2nd Fellside 1480

3rd Parochial 1377

4th Front Street A 1356

5th Front Street B 1283

6th Clover Hill 1265

Washingwell Primary went on to represent the Whickham Primary Schools Cluster in

the Gateshead finals where they finished a magnificent 4th.

CSL/HSL lend a hand I hope you will all agree that our young sports leaders are doing a marvelous job in leading sports activities and clubs for your primary students. They are helping out

at lunchtimes, running energy clubs, helping with extra curricular clubs, training students to deliver boccia and delivering cluster events at Whickham School.
