ANNEX A White Sands Primary School

Summary of Programmes for Primary 4 – Term 1

NLB Books 2 Go

Dates: 18 and 19 February 2019

Time: 8.15 a.m. – 2.15 p.m.

The National Library Board will be holding a 2-day mass borrowing exercise where your child

can borrow books from a wide array of titles. Do encourage your child to develop the habit of

reading by participating in this programme. Your child would need to bring along his / her

student pass for this programme.

Cost: No payment required.

Home-Based Learning (HBL) Readiness Exercise Date: 16 March to 24 March (Term 1 School Holiday) The objectives of HBL are to provide opportunities for pupils to cultivate independent learning

strategies and to ensure that pupils can still be engaged in learning during a school closure

due to emergencies.

As preparation for the upcoming HBL exercise, pupils will be accessing the Student Learning

Space (https://vle.learning.moe.edu.sg) at home to identify any issues they may encounter.

Pupils will be briefed by their C4RE teachers on the procedures for the readiness exercise.

This exercise will take no more than 30 minutes for pupils to complete. We seek parents’

support on the above and in making alternative arrangements for your child to access the

portal if he/she does not have a computer with Internet connection at home.

Cost: Fully Subsidised by School

Traffic Games @ Road Safety Park

Dates: 27 March 2019, Wednesday (Class 4C, 4D and 4F) and

28 March 2019, Thursday (Class 4A, 4B, 4E and 4G)

Time: 7.45 a.m. – 1.00 p.m.

As part of the school’s efforts to raise pupils’ awareness on Road Safety, the P4 pupils will be

participating in the Traffic Games at the Road Safety Park. Pupils will participate in the Traffic

Games by adopting one of the various roles: Cyclist, Go-Kart Driver or Pedestrian.

Through this interactive activity, pupils will learn about the precautions which they should take

when on the roads as well as the importance of following traffic rules in Singapore.

ATTACHMENT 3 Malay Language Oral Workshop for P3-P6 Parents Date: Saturday, 9 March 2019 Time: 9.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. Venue: White Sands Primary School The Malay Language Teachers will be engaging parents for an oral workshop to provide

parents with guidelines to better facilitate their child’s learning of Malay Language.

The availability of the place is based on a first-come, first-served basis.

More details will be provided by your child's Mother Tongue Teacher at a later date.
