Why Use a Experienced General Contractor... by Kelly Kenter

There are Good Reasons...

As construction consumers begin the process

of building or improving their facilities, the

decision to use a general contractor can be a

challenge. Especially with smaller projects that

may only incorporate a couple of trades. The

hiring of a construction manager can get very

expensive as well as present risk issues.

Stretching subcontractors beyond their core

discipline can also present a range of issues.

These are common choices when determining

who will run the project.

The thought process may seem sound with regards to saving fee with hiring

a general contractor, but in reality the cost of not using an experienced general

contractor can be even more costly. Using a general contractor can establish

clean lines of communication, proper processing of documentation and

smooth coordination of subcontractors. Hiccups in any of these areas can

delay a project or even worse, add costs. The current economic climate has

prompted some unique construction dynamics. In the quest for more

business, commitments are being made that are simply not feasible to keep.

An experienced general contractor can alleviate this fear for consumers.

Incorporating the general contractor as early as possible can save a

tremendous amount of time. Experience can even accelerate the processes

in some cases and catch potential pitfalls in others. The ultimate goal is

having a successful project from cradle to grave. The general contractor's fee

is more than covered from the savings in the front and back end of the project,

even on a small projects. A experienced general contractor can look at

the project globally. Examining each aspect looking for areas of savings or

concern. Partnering with your experienced general contractor should be a

positive experience. Serving as your project agent and connection with

municipalities, inspectors, subcontractors and suppliers. We value all of these

relationships and feel they're imperative for a successful project of "ANY SIZE."
