Why Group Life cover mattersOur Group Life cover helps you deal with one of the most difficult situations to happen in your workplace. We offer financial payments to an employee’s partner, family or dependants in the event of an untimely death. The payment can never replace a valued and respected employee, but can help ease the financial burden when their dependants need it the most.

Bereavement helpline

What it providesThe death of an employee can be difficult to cope with.

The bereavement helpline provided by Care first provides emotional and practical support from qualified bereavement counsellors not just for the employee’s family, but also for the colleagues they leave behind.

As well as helping those affected cope with their loss, Care first can help the employee’s family members with matters such as funeral arrangements and obtaining probate. If specific financial, tax or legal advice is required, they can refer you to specialist organisations for appropriate support.

How it worksThe helpline can be accessed by calling 0800 015 5631. It’s completely confidential.

Grief Encounter helpline

What it providesThis is a registered charity which provides much needed information, guidance and support to bereaved children and those who care for them. Aviva is proud to support its valuable work.

Grief Encounter offers a flexible and accessible service, which aims to professionally care and respond to bereaved children, young people and their families via counselling, group activities, family fun days, residential camps and interactive online services.

How it worksEmployees simply call 0808 802 0111.

Although their services are provided mostly by phone, Grief Encounter also provides a dedicated e-mail support service, for those unable to call. Employees should email [email protected]

Stress helpline

What it providesStress and anxiety caused by bereavement can affect not only the deceased employee’s dependants, but also existing employees.

Care first gives your workforce access to a 24/7 stress helpline, handled by accredited counsellors. It can provide practical and emotional support to your employees affected by the loss of a colleague.

How it worksEmployees, aged 16 or over, can call 0800 015 5632, any time day or night. Calls are completely confidential with no limit to the number of times an employee can call.
