Awards: 2015 Nominee for Chancellor’s Excellence in Teaching Award 2014 Named as a Society for Social Work and Research Fellow Recipient of 1997 Jefferson Award - Chancellor’s Award to University faculty

Recipient of one of six national research awards (Honorable Mention, 1997) given by the Society for Social Work and Research.

January 1988 to August 1991 Human Resource & Training Director, Florida Network of Youth and Family Services. Responsible for training clinical and youth care staff in 20 runaway shelters across the state of Florida. Trained staff in such skills and topic areas as crisis intervention, family mediation and dispute-resolution, clinical assessment methods, suicide risk assessment, cognitive-behavior therapy, basic and advanced group therapy methods, adolescent development, applied behavior analysis, hypnotic techniques, anger therapy, and treatment of anxiety and depression. Developed semi-structured assessment interview, suicide risk, and risk of harm to others assessment procedures for state-wide centralized intake for CINS/FINS (Children-in-need of services/Families-in- need of services) clients. Performed mediation and facilitation services for member agencies. Trained staff of outside agencies, such as Associated Marine Institutes, as called for by contract. Served as measurement and research & evaluation consultant with state agencies (such as HRS) as called for by contract.
