WILLIAM WOOD HOUSE DOMICILIARYCARE AGENCY is regulated by the CareQuality Commission to deliver personalcare within the scheme and via anoutreach service to local residents.

William Wood House, formerly Sudbury Grammar School for Boys,founded in 1491 is now a very sheltered housing scheme, whichenables older people to stay in a home of their own, whilstreceiving care and support as required. This provides older peoplewith an alternative to residential care and allows couples tocontinue living together. William Wood House offers an environmentthat helps people to make choices, retain their independence,privacy, and ultimately, have control over their own lives.

u We will undertake regularreviews of your care planand services involvingyou and yourrepresentatives, toensure we meet yourneeds.

u To ensure we meet ourobjectives we will monitorour service by asking youto complete our annualquality assurance surveyand publishing theresults for all to see.

u We will provide adomiciliary care servicethat provides highquality care andsupport at all times toenable you to remainliving as independentlyas possible within yourown home.

u We ensure we arecompliant with the Health& Social Act 2008(Regulated Activities)Regulations 2010 and theCare Quality Commission(Registration) Regulations2009. We achieve this by ensuring we meet the 28 outcomes of the essentialstandards of quality andsafety.

William Wood House consists of 26 apartments, over twofloors. Three of these have two bedrooms. Each apartment hasits own front door, a bedroom, lounge, kitchen and shower orbathroom, including a WC. Within each apartment there is anEmergency Intercom alarm system, with pull cords to operatethis. Pendant alarms to wear are also available upon request.

William Wood House offers tenants theopportunity forvisiting friends orfamily to hire theguest room.

The scheme holds regular tenantmeetings where they have theopportunity to influence theservice provided by theAssociation. We alwaysencourage tenants to get involved,as much or as little as they like. Tenants’ opinions andexperiences of our service are greatly valued.

We can help you with the following, laundry,cleaning, shopping, assistance with bathing,attending outings, various in-house activitiessuch as bingo, sing-a-longs and

arts and crafts. This is not an exhaustive list,therefore, please contact us for furtherinformation.

Additional Services

CARE SERVICESYou can purchase a care service from our Domiciliary CareAgency, regulated by the Care Quality Commission.

We will ask you to sign a Care Services Agreement which clearlydefines our terms and conditions. We will also provide you with anindividual care plan which will be tailored to your requirements.Your care plan will define which tasks you need help with and willbe reviewed with you on a regular basis.

We provide this service to older people who have a variety ofsupport needs including mental health, physical, sensory andlearning difficulties. Staff are trained to QCF (Qualifications CreditFramework)/NVQ (National Vocational Qualifications) in Health andSocial Care Standards, including Manual Handling and otherspecialised training dependent on the needs of the individual suchas Dementia, Parkinson’s, Diabetes, and Strokes. All our supportstaff have been vetted with an enhanced Disclosure and BarringServices check.

We are able to offer outreach care and support services to the localcommunity and short term respite or transitional services within thescheme, with personal care delivered by our staff. Our aim is toassist individuals in maintaining their daily living skills in order forthem to be as independent as possible.

If you would like to receivecare in your home, have alow to moderate income,assets below £23,250(2012/13 rate) and youmeet the eligibility criteriaunder the Fair Access toCare Services, you may beable to get help towardsthe cost of your care.

Please contact CustomerFirst to arrange anassessment by Adult Community Services (ACS).Following this assessment,you will be told if you areeligible to receive aPersonal Budget, which youwill be able to use topurchase care services. Ifyou are not eligible, youcan still move into WilliamWood House by being aPrivate Purchaser and payfor your care yourself.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST AND HOW DO I APPLY?

To receive a PersonalBudget you must meet theFair Access to CareServices (FACS) eligibilitycriteria, against which ACSwill assess you.

Personal Budgets can bepaid as a Direct Paymentinto your bank account, oryou can ask Suffolk CountyCouncil to arrange yourcare using your PersonalBudget. The aim ofPersonal Budgets is to givethe individual greatercontrol and flexibility overthe way their social careneeds are met.
