June 2020 Friendship Express www.arncliffew-p.schools.nsw.edu.au This month we observed the winter solstice, learning about some of the traditions that surround the longest night of the year. There are lots of photos of our activities on the following class pages and the art work and installations are on display around the school. By the time you read this our days will slowly be getting longer again, however, it may be a while before our days get warmer. Now that the seasons have changed, it is important to move to our winter uniform. Please make sure that your child comes appropriately dressed. Whilst students are welcome to wear mufti on Fridays, we still require them to have sensible clothes and shoes. Jewellery should be limited to small earrings and watches. Please also keep hair decorations simple. Semester 1 reports will be issued in August this year and will be presented in a different format. We have been testing and collecting observations which will be collated early next term. Parent/teacher interviews this year will be held via Zoom or phone and can be arranged with your childs teacher through email. We are looking forward to a further easing of Coronavirus restrictions next term. Currently we are planning our Athletics Carnival for 05.08.20 and Chief Paul will be coming back to do Yoga later in the term. We are also hoping to have a Mongolian throat singer perform for us in September. Bukhu, who performed recently on The Voice, is yet to confirm but we are looking forward to his performance. The new preschool play ground equipment will be installed over the holidays. We are very excited about the fantastic upgrade to our equipment. We are also working on our site across the road and gradually bringing more spaces into use. The students are really enjoying the extra play spaces now that the Maarif School has moved to Auburn. We are beginning to plan for 2021 so if you or your friends have students to enrol now is the time to start that process. At the beginning of term 4 we conduct our Transition to Kindergartenprogram and preschool places are allocated at the end of October. I understand that it is hard to imagine what the world will look like by then but we are hoping that Australias success in dealing with COVID19 will mean life will be back to a more normal pattern. It has felt like a very long term and I know that the staff is looking forward to a well deserved break. I hope that everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday. This month we observed the winter solstice, learning about some of the traditions that surround the longest night of the year.

Whilst students are welcome to wear mufti on Fridays, we still

require them to have sensible clothes and shoes. Jewellery should be limited to small earrings and watches. Please also keep hair decorations simple.

Semester 1 reports will be issued in August this year and will be presented in a different format. We have been testing and collecting observations which will be collated early next term.

Parent/teacher interviews this year will be held via Zoom or phone and can be arranged with your child’s teacher through email.

We are looking forward to a further easing of Coronavirus restrictions next term. Currently we are planning our Athletics

Carnival for 05.08.20 and Chief Paul will be coming back to do Yoga later in the term.

We are also working on our site across the road and

gradually bringing more spaces into use. The students are really enjoying the extra play spaces now that the Maarif School has moved to Auburn. We are beginning to plan for 2021 so if you or your friends have students to enrol now is the time to start that process. At the beginning of term 4 we conduct our ‘Transition to Kindergarten’ program and preschool places are allocated at the end of October. I understand that it is hard to imagine what the world will look like by then but we are hoping that Australia’s success in dealing with COVID19 will mean life will be back to a more normal pattern. It has felt like a very long term and I know that the staff is looking forward to a well deserved break. I hope that everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday.
