THE TAILOREDCOLLECTION
The cruising holiday of your dreams awaits with our tailored collection. Drawing on our considerable travel industry
experience, we craft itineraries according to your specifications. Discover the world’s beaches, natural sites, cultural attractions and thriving cities with an itinerary which has been designed with just you in mind, so you can make the most of your ports-of-call while cruising.
“I’ve always believed you have to get as much out of your holiday as possible. My wife and I booked a cruise of the Western Mediterranean. We’ve always wanted to spend some time in Venice so we decided to book a hotel there for a few nights after our cruise, and we’re so glad we did. We had so much fun on our cruise, enjoying first-rate dining options, excellent amenities and even better company, and our minibreak in Venice was the icing on the cake. We got to see fantastic architecture, like gothic cathedrals, as well as soak up the sun on lovely beaches and enjoy traditional cultural experiences. It was an absolute delight, and we’d suggest tailoring your cruise itinerary for a more unique holiday to anyone, because it really gives you the kind of getaway that you’ve always wanted.”

OCEANOcean cruising offers incredible choices for your holiday. Not
only is the range of destinations on a global scale, but the magnitude of the ships affords the kind of onboard experience that has to be seen to be believed. Luxurious spas, rock climbing walls, award-winning dining, Broadway shows, mini golf courses, stunning destinations, cookery schools – you name it, it’s all there with these cruise lines.
Travel Counsellor Louise and her family set sail on P&O’s Britannia, visiting Guernsey, La Coruna, Bilbao and La Rochelle. Louise’s son Rhys, aged 10, told us a little about his trip…
"When I got on Britannia, it felt like a modern hotel that could move as fast as a car on a track. The food was good on the adults’ menu but sometimes I had the kids’ menu. Some nights we went to the theatre - my favourite show was Once Upon a Time because it had loads of funny things in it. On the last day, we met the captain who showed us the spotter in the bridge who looks for whales and dolphins. He showed us the levers which are used to turn the ship and his sword which the Queen presented, and that was very cool."

– it’s land-based resorts. From state-of-the-art spas to high-tech entertainment venues, cruises are now one of the most fast-changing and forward-thinking holiday options. Once seen as the preserve of retirees and honeymooners, they’re increasingly attuned to passengers of all interests and tastes.
Staying connected at sea
Once upon a time, boarding a cruise ship meant leaving your electronics behind. Nowadays, cruise companies are helping passengers stay connected at sea with features such as charging points, computer rooms and Wi-Fi (sometimes included as part of a package) and generally making cruising easier using new technology.
To take just one example, Princess Cruises’ Ocean Medallion is a waterproof wearable device that allows passengers to unlock their stateroom doors, order food and drinks, and locate where their family is on a ship and communicate with them via an instant messenger.
Meanwhile, Royal Caribbean has developed an app enabling seamless check-in and frictionless boarding, with the aim of getting guests from car to bar in just 10 minutes, among other enhancements.
Modern entertainment and wellness
Recent revamps when it comes to onboard entertainment include original productions and West End favourites with amazing sets and high production values. In fact, the theatres themselves are often more advanced than their land-based counterparts.
Royal Caribbean’s Two70 lounge has floor-to-ceiling windows that transform it from a typical theatre setting to a venue with a 30m-wide high-definition screen – twice as big as what you’d find at an IMAX cinema. Six more screens come attached to robotic arms.
Most modern ships have full health and wellness suites so guests can both work out and relax, while features such as go-kart racing, games rooms with the latest consoles and even 3D printers are available on some.
Cabin innovations
Technology is also being employed to push the boundaries of room design. New ship Celebrity Edge has redefined cabins with its Infinite Verandas inspired by the French balconies on European river ships. Here, the balcony area has been moved inside the cabin, allowing the top portion of the window to be lowered and the area separated by bi-folding doors. This results in an additional 23% of cabin floor space and means that the balcony area can be used even if the weather isn’t great.

Perfect Day at CocoCay in the Bahamas is unlike any island you’ve ever been to and is expressly designed to redefine what you can do in a day. On an Azamara Club Cruises® voyage to Japan you’ll dive deeper into this exotic country. From
the ancient temples of Kyoto to the fascinating modernity of Tokyo, the charming fishing port of Sakaiminato, and globally significant cities like Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Along the way, let your senses lead you to alleys full of world-class restaurants, up misty, pine-scented mountains, and down cherry-blossom lined streets as the Azamara PursuitSM visits Japan for the first time in Spring 2021—the height of Sakura season.
Azamara's 2019 voyages have eight maiden calls including less-travelled Hakodate, one of Japan’s first treaty ports in 1854, and Akita, which has been inhabited for thousands of years. Samurai fans will want to visit the ruins of Akita castle (from 733 AD) and Kubota Castle, where a defeated warrior once lived, and Matsue Castle, one of Japan’s few remaining feudal castles.
On an Azamara voyage you can join small-group experiences to learn about Japan’s culture and traditions. Become a mini-expert in Shinto shrines, Buddhist temples, Japanese architecture, bonsai, origami, geisha, or the etiquette of sushi.
Of course you’ll dine like a king on incredible seafood, Kobe beef, ramen, shabu-shabu, tonkatsu and more. And you’ll be surrounded by gorgeous scenery too, from perfectly tended national forests and gardens to beautiful coastal bays and towering snow-capped peaks.

Every day brings a new opportunity on a cruise, and there's so much to discover on board. Take in spectacular
performances, explore the treasures of new destinations, enjoy cultural displays and more – your entertainment options are endless.
Take in a show
There's always spectacular shows for all ages and tastes with talented performers on a cruise. You can enjoy dinner with a show while travelling on Norwegian Epic, whose Cirque du Soleil-inspired aerial acrobatic performances will have you on the edge of your seat. Experience everything from ice-skating shows to Broadway-style productions of musicals like We Will Rock You and Cats on a Royal Caribbean ship, while Disney cruises host various entertainment for families from afternoon tea parties with Disney princesses to Pirates of the Caribbean deck parties.
Embrace some culture
Discover a range of vibrant cultural experiences while sailing the seven seas. Sign up to Viking Cruises ‘culture curriculum’ to enjoy a menu of lectures, from the local music, cuisine, history and art of your chosen destinations. You can enjoy cultured evening entertainment while sailing with Cunard Cruises, such as theatrical performances of Shakespeare plays from RADA’s finest young actors. Cunard are known for providing incredible entertainment, on board you can visit jazz clubs, ballrooms and planetariums, or watch orchestral performances.
Living on the edge
As cruise ship technology advances, the entertainment offerings grow more sophisticated. Take Celebrity Edge; an innovative new cruise ship that debuted in winter 2018. This ship is the future of cruising, with the world’s first cantilevered platform which allows passengers to travel up to heights of 13 storeys above sea level. The vessel also comes with an extensive entertainment area on the top deck, as well as a rooftop garden where you can catch movie screenings. There's also the multi-floored ‘Eden’ garden of delights, where riveting performance art will be showcased. The Edge embarked on two maiden voyages in December 2018, visiting Caribbean destinations like Cozumel, and soon you’ll be able to experience its delights for yourself.
ENTERTAINMENT
ON LAND
U by Uniworld
Prepare to enjoy exciting entertainment with U by Uniworld, a unique new river cruising concept. You can travel on board one of two ships while experiencing a range of fun interactive activities, including mixology and yoga sessions, silent discos, cooking classes and ‘paint and wine’ activities. You'll also get to try fun activities and excursions on shore, with 27 ports of call, six countries and four different rivers to choose from. Browse traditional stalls at Budapest’s Christmas market, cycle along the winding paths of Amsterdam, go rock climbing in Hamburg or kayak on the Seine; the rivers of Europe are your oyster.
On Shore adventures
Uncover unmissable on shore adventures while cruising. There are often ‘boutique tours’ when sailing on the bigger ocean cruise ships, allowing you to head off the beaten track with a small group to discover your location’s hidden treasures. Try your hand at some truly unique activities, from underwater cave diving off the Mexican coast to riding a Harley through Alaska and swimming with sharks (in the safety of a cage) in South Africa. As a conscientious traveller you can also embark on a ‘voluntourism’ adventure, with on shore activities where you work as a team to help in tasks ranging from counting penguins to teaching English. If you cruise with Hurtigruten you can even sign up for adventures including dog sledding in an ice cave or king crab rafting safaris.
Delve into your destination’s past
The simple act of stepping off your cruise ship and onto dry land can provide fascinating insight as you have the chance to explore your destination’s past. Many top attractions are within walking distance of your ship; stop in Barcelona and you can tour all of Gaudí’s architectural masterpieces in just one day. You can also sign up for guided tours, where experts will shed light on your chosen location’s fascinating history and intriguing sites.

RIVERThe cruise world is more diverse than
ever before. Intimate river cruise options make your choice even wider and your Travel Counsellor can help navigate you through it all. Smaller ships make for a more personal environment between guests and staff and also give the ability to dock in the heart of cities. With ever-changing views and usually a lot more included in the initial price, a river cruise can offer you more on your cruise holiday.
"You’ll find that the cabins are much bigger [than on ocean cruises], with more space and huge windows, and some have balconies so you can sit out and watch the scenery float by. Large deck spaces too with lots of room to relax and listen to the gentle sound of the river. It’s like taking three or four city breaks in one go and yes, you have plenty of time to explore!"
Merv, Travel Counsellor

RIVERMerv’s top tip: Upgrade your cabin to at least the middle grade with large windows, it’s worth it for the stunning scenery sailing past.

Thinking about travelling solo in 2019? Not sure about going on holiday on your own? Try a cruise.
There’s company if you feel like socialising. You don’t have to worry about getting yourself from A to B. And, the activity programmes mean you can explore with like-minded people, without the hassle of organising the tour!
Read on to find out why we think cruise holidays are perfect for solo travellers, and to discover some of the exciting worldwide destinations you could explore in 2019.
A friendly space to socialise
You’re never likely to be the only one going solo on a cruise, especially as many ships now offer single cabins. Staff are always on hand to offer advice and keep you up to date with what’s happening on your ship, so life onboard is a safe and friendly space in which to meet like-minded fellow passengers.
You’re well looked after onboard
Many cruise lines offer special singles lounges or singles activities to help you meet with other passengers. P&O Cruises and Cunard arrange coffee mornings for solo travellers while Cruise and Maritime Voyages offer a welcome cocktail party. Fred. Olsen Cruises even employs dance hosts on its staff to ensure you won’t feel lonesome on the dancefloor!
Tailored activity programmes
In addition to special singles events and coffee mornings, there’s a whole programme of activities and events to choose from. On some smaller cruise ships, you’ll find it easy to get chatting with other guests over dinner, during themed activities or at evenings with guest speakers.
TRAVELLING
SOLO?Dining companions – if you want them
Some ships organise dinner seating plans so that you are seated with other single travellers of a similar age. On many Fred. Olsen Cruises, solo cruisers sit together for dinner to help them get to know each other.
With other cruises, when dining onboard is a more casual affair, you are free to take your pick of the multiple dining options available, depending how sociable you’re feeling.
You’ll also find that some cruise lines, such as Uniworld boutique river cruises, encourage their guests to get to know one another, with open seating.
Safety in numbers
A cruise gives you a lot of flexibility in terms of what excursions you take part in. If you’re feeling confident, you can head off on your own. In less familiar surroundings – or when you fancy a bit of company – join the ship’s shore excursions for a relaxing sightseeing experience, knowing you are in safe hands and making new friends.
A selection of cruise lines, such as Fred. Olsen, arrange meeting points for solo guests who’d like to go ashore with fellow single travellers, so you don’t need to worry about being alone on the excursion.
Single cabins without single supplements
It is increasingly easy to find single berth cabins and some cruise lines even often single berth staterooms. Many cruise lines also offer fares without the hefty single supplement.
Guests sailing with Norwegian Cruise Line can meet fellow solo cruisers at the Studios Lounge, a private area for single travellers with a bar, TV and comfy chairs.
P&O Cruises’ single cabins feature a vanity/writing desk and tea and coffee making facilities, and on ships Britannia and Arcadia you’ll find single cabins with balconies. Cunard’s beautiful Queen Mary 2 features luxurious single cabins complete with desks and a cosy seating area.

ADVENTURE &EXPEDITION
Fancy heading off the beaten track for an adventure? Expedition cruises journey to some of the world’s most spectacular
and unspoilt destinations. With the emphasis placed firmly on destination, most expedition cruise ships are modest in size when compared with large contemporary ships. A few cruise providers blend luxury with adventure but on the whole, expect down-to-earth cabins and facilities. Vessels are usually on the smaller side, allowing them to reach remote environments far away from the crowds.
"Those with a sense of adventure and a passion for exploration will delight upon entering the world of expedition cruising. I particularly love the diversity and being able to venture off the beaten track. From breathtaking scenery, snorkelling with the local wildlife (sea lions and turtles are my favourite!), camping out on Antarctica, or being on deck for polar bear watch in the Arctic. Every day is a special and unique experience, quite simply unforgettable!"Sarah, Travel Counsellor

The fight against plastic pollution has been a focus for Hurtigruten for years. 15 metric tons of
plastic ends up in the ocean every minute of the day and if the trend continues, this number will double in the next 10 years. This means that by 2050 there will be more plastic than fish in the oceans.
Hurtigruten will become the world’s first plastic-free cruise company. And Hurtigruten was the first major travel company to remove single-use plastic from all their ships, restaurants and hotels. Plastic straws have been replaced by metal, stir pins will no longer be used - and the same with plastic cups wrapped in plastic, plastic cutlery, plastic bags, plastic lids on coffee cups, plastic toothpicks, plastic aprons, single-use packaging of butter and all other single-use plastic items that Hurtigruten’s 500,000 guests and 2,500 employees encounter on a day-to-day basis. Hurtigruten is investing in cutting-edge technology and advancing innovations throughout its entire organisation. They are building the world’s greenest and most advanced fleet of expedition cruise ships and are changing the world of adventure travel.
Hurtigruten is an exploration company in the truest sense of the word and has been embarking on journeys of discovery for 126 years. Specialists in the fabled Norwegian coast, as well as many other striking destinations, Hurtigruten voyages are authentic adventures which take you much closer - right to the heart of the landscape, wildlife, and local communities they explore.
No matter where you seek adventure, you can be sure that the highly skilled Hurtigruten Expedition Teams on board will safely take you close to remote beauty and wildlife.

Antarctic adventures are best enjoyed midsummer, when near-midnight sun powers an explosion of life
along the shore and brightens the thought of camping out, early alpine climbing starts or extended kayaking trips. Penguin highways are busy with traffic as parents hurry to fatten chicks and waterways are alive with whales and seals. Aurora Expeditions visit historic sites and step onto the most spectacular continent on Earth. Hone your ice and wildlife photography skills. Hear the sonorous blows of feeding humpbacks. Snuggle into the wonder of camping on shore in Antarctica. Experience the thrill of Antarctic kayaking, climbing, snowshoeing and ski-touring (additional cost).
Enjoy this Antarctic experience onboard the Greg Mortimer. Accommodating a maximum of 100 passengers plus kayakers and divers in Antarctica, the Greg Mortimer redefines expedition cruising for the future. Not only is the ship bigger to contend with adverse weather conditions, its added creature comforts make for a more enjoyable journey out on the open ocean. The Greg Mortimer remains true to their ethos and focus on multiple landings, flexible itineraries and family atmosphere - just with an improved home base!

Hebridean Island Cruises prides itself on providing unique experiences for a few people
- never something ordinary for a crowd. Unlike most cruise companies, Hebridean operates a very small and special ship - Hebridean Princess. Despite the modern fashion for large floating resorts, they believe that there will always be a place for the small, intimate and the personal. Personal service means the rare delight of dealing with people who care passionately about what they are doing, whether ashore or afloat. This little ship encourages personal service and a depth of involvement from the staff who take pride in always delivering their promises in every detail, impeccably and without compromise. The aim is to surpass your expectations and make your cruise a uniquely memorable occasion. Hebridean Princess offers a host of themed cruises including gastronomy, classical music, whisky, castles, gardens and walking itineraries. Sailings which showcase the natural world and remote archipelago of St Kilda also feature in the cruise line up, in addition to popular favourites such as the Captain’s springtime and autumn surprises.

If you’ve never set sail on a cruise ship before, you might be surprised by what you’ll find. Imagining tiny
rooms? Lukewarm dinner? Nothing to do? Instead, picture immaculate staterooms with balconies so you can feel the sea breeze. Fine dining to rival on shore restaurants. And thrilling entertainment, from Broadway shows to language lessons to climbing walls.
Cruise holidays aren’t all organised fun and non-stop entertainment though, sometimes it’s the scenery that makes a cruise so special. The simple pleasure of watching the world go by as you drift along a river with a drink in hand. The excitement of spotting an unknown shore come into view for the first time. These can be what cruise dreams are made of.
With so many worldwide destinations to choose from, we’ve put together some of the most spectacular sights you can see on a cruise to inspire your next choice.
The Norwegian Fjords
Travel to the land of the midnight sun and the northern lights to see the breathtaking beauty of Norway’s fjords. Carved by glaciers, these deep sea lakes are surrounded by steep, snow-capped mountains, tumbling waterfalls and tiny fishing villages. Amongst the dramatic scenery, the waters of the fjords are beautifully still and calm, broken only by the splashes of seals and whales.
Angkor Wat
Cruise along the Mekong River to see one of south-east Asia’s most famous temples, Angkor Wat in Cambodia. The UNESCO World Heritage site is the largest religious monument in the world, as well as an important archaeological site. Built to represent the entire universe, Angkor Wat’s five towers, vast moat and intricate stone carvings are truly spectacular.
Antarctica
If you’re looking for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, a cruise to the far-flung icy lands of Antarctica could be the trip you’re looking for. From the boundless snowy landscape to the loveable resident penguins, Antarctic voyages are rare and unforgettable yet the experience is no longer purely the domain of intrepid explorers, with some amazing niche cruises on offer for passengers with a sense of adventure.

Bamberg Cathedral
Delicious local wines aside, one of the best things about cruising along Germany’s Rhine River is the beautiful sights you come across on the banks. The historic Bavarian town of Bamberg is a picture-perfect example, with the striking spires of the 13th-century cathedral at its heart.
Chile
Journey to the ends of the earth with a small ship cruise around the tip of South America. Chile’s Patagonia region is home to some of the world’s most dramatic scenery, with jagged mountain peaks, remote valleys and herds of llamas. The freezing glacial lakes and fjords are perfect for exploring in a small vessel, allowing you to get up close with the staggering, other-worldly beauty of this wilderness.
The Amazon
We’ve all conjured up scenes of the Amazon in our minds but immersing yourself in the sights, sounds and smells of this mighty jungle river is a completely different experience! The cries of the howler monkeys, the intensely bright flashes of colour as birds and butterflies fly past, and the heady humidity of the rainforest all combine to create an exhilarating river cruise experience.
Moscow Kremlin
The colourful spires and opulent decorations of the Moscow Kremlin are just some of the iconic sights you’ll see on a cruise along Russia’s great river, the Moskva. This historic fortified complex is home to no less than nine palaces and cathedrals, with the Ivan the Great Bell Tower among the most impressive, while the neighbouring Red Square and candy-coloured Saint Basil’s Cathedral only add to the scenic line-up.
The Scottish Hebrides
Explore these tiny islands off the west coast of Scotland and you’ll find remote communities, rugged landscapes, and secluded white sandy beaches that wouldn’t look out of place in the Caribbean. Spot dolphins, otters and eagles as you cruise this stunning archipelago and warm yourself on chilly nights with a nip of whisky.
The Eiffel Tower
Few sights are more well-loved around the globe than the beautiful Eiffel Tower in Paris. Situated on the banks of the River Seine, this famous landmark reaches the dizzy heights of 1,063 feet. A cruise along the Seine must be one of life’s most romantic treats, taking in the bohemian charm of Paris before exploring the surrounding regions, with sights like Monet’s Giverny home, the picturesque streets of Rouen, and the palaces of Versailles to look forward to.
Hell’s Canyon
Follow in the wake of the early pioneers with a cruise along Snake River in the USA’s Pacific Northwest and discover a land of cascading waterfalls, dense hardwood forests, wide plains and dramatic gorges. Known as the ‘Grand Canyon of the West’ and surrounded by the peaks of the Seven Devils Mountains, this awe-inspiring sight is one to really take your breath away.Paris
