The red jacketsDear Shihan, I’ve just come back from Liverpool, where we have signed a statement to all members of the Wjjf/Wjjko withRobert Hart, another “Bob” the Managing Director of the Wjjf-Uk (Ltd) Beryl Miao, who remains the International GeneralSecretary and myself your President all signed in the spirit of the late Dai Soke Robert Clark (1946-2012) founder of theWjjf/Wjjko. “Looking to the future, we must not forget the past where we were born” (Confucio 551 a.C. – 479 a.C.).So speaking with Shihan David Flaherty, Brian Truby, Stefano Draghi and Robert Hart we thought that for the Shihan Kai on-ly, the re-introduction of the “famous red jackets”, in respect of the vision of Soke Robert Clark and only for master grades.At the same time it could be a way to make more visible the role of the Shihan in the dojos, but especially for the seminars ofthe ITC (keiko). Phan Xuan Tong, sensei / founder of the style of Vietnam kung fu qwan ki do, is a charismatic personage that havewaked with us of the Wjjf/Wjjko soke Robert Clark in primis, a long way.The presence at some International Congress of the Sensei Tong, along with the student and also general secretaryof the Wuqkd – Sensei Roberto Vismara. People, problems, priorities and promises: challenges of kai growth and stabilityOrganizations are wonderful social enterprises. When two or more individuals come together for a common purpose, a group isformed; add a few more individuals, and an organizations emerges. The human group/organizations has its unique benefits andchallenges. In This article, the focus will be upon the latter, particularly with regard to that type of organizations known as the “kai”.A “kai” is a gathering under one roof (metaphorically speaking) of like-minded individuals; people sharing the same values and inter-ests. This is a common concept in Japan, not restricted to martial arts organizations.Our kai is, of course, Wjjf/Wjjko. The organizations formed to spread the martial arts of the Dai Soke Robert Clark and GSB. A histo-ry lesson will be skipped here in order to get to the substance of the article.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERNIt is with some considerable regret that I find myself in the unfortunate position of having to write this letter. Particularly, as the first anniversary of Soke Ro-bert Clark’s death has only just passed. It has been brought to my attention, that some groups, who until recently were full and supportive members ofWJJF/WJJKO have now left, but continue to use the name and image of Soke Clark for their own interest. When myself, Soke Clark and our PresidentSpartaco Bertoletti first created WJJF in 1976, it was with the sole intention of bringing Robert Clark’s unique and special style of Ju Jitsu to a worldwidefamily of likeminded Ju Jitsu practitioners. We have of course been hugely successful and today we are still the largest Ju Jitsu Federation in the world.Robert Clark, would be deeply saddened and disappointed, if he were here today, at the course of events that have happened since his death, and on apersonnal note, so am I. I would urge, everyone, out of respect for Robert Clark, that is no longer involved with the offial WJJF/WJJKO, headed by the pre-sident Mr Bertoletti, myself as General Secretary and Robert Hart the new Managing Director, to please refrain from the practice of self promotion by asso-ciation with a man who can no longer speak out for himself.Sincerely
