Role of the Operations Level Responder (OSHA)

Knowledge of hazard and risk assessment techniques. Knowledge of how to select and use the proper personal

protective equipment (PPE) available. An understanding of basic hazardous material terminology. Knowledge of how to perform basic control/containment, and

or confinement techniques within the capabilities of the PPE and resources available.

Basic decontamination techniques and procedures. An understanding of the standard operating procedures, and

termination procedures, within the local emergency response plan.
