2020 Scholarship Program WID Central Florida Scholarship Program

Scholarships will be awarded in the amounts listed below:

Gold Place: $1000 Scholarship (3 Scholarship Awarded)

Silver Place: $500 Scholarship (6 Scholarships Awarded)

Bronze Place: $250 Scholarship (6 Scholarships Awarded)

Applicants MUST submit completed applications electronically NO LATER THAN 11:59 p.m.

EST on Monday, March 16, 2020.

Scholarship Checklist:

II. ESSAY—DEMONSTRATION OF INTEREST IN A CAREER IN NATIONAL SECURITY OR DEFENSE

Essay Requirements:

In one cohesive essay, describe your interest in a career in national security or defense by addressing

ALL three subtopics outlined below (Statement of interest; Statement of prior accomplishments; and

Proposed program/course emphasis).

Length of each essay must be 200-400 words

Responses must be typed and double spaced*

Include your full name on each page of the essay

Submit all three essays in the space provided below OR a separate word document (must be included in one complete submission)

Essay Subtopics:

1. Statement of interest: Describe your interest in pursuing a career in a field related to national

security, defense, or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics). Include a

description of your long-term goals.

2. Statement of prior accomplishments: Describe what you believe to be the principal

accomplishments in your life that relate to your professional goals, including academic,

professional, or community activities.

3. Proposed program/course emphasis: Describe the objectives of your educational program and

list your course of study for the Fall 2020 semester, relating them back to your national security,

defense, or STEM career plans.
