Those who ordered a copy of "The One True Light” can pick it up from the
table in church. Please pick up your named copy. The cost is £3. Please put your money in the envelope which is in the book and pop it in the offertory
box. If you wanted a copy but forgot to order one, we have a few spare
copies.
“Four kinds of Christmas": This short book is an attractive presentation of the real meaning of
Christmas against the background of wrong approaches to this special time of the year. We've
bought 100 copies at £1 each! 'Take, pay, read, pray and give away!!' What sort of Christmas
is yours - Santa, Shopper, Scrooge or Stable?
There are some Christmas cards that need signing TODAY to be sent, this week, to those who work abroad
whom we support; also one for Ed and Marsha Greenslit. Please look on the table in the church.
QUIET REFLECTION EVENING at the start of Advent. This will be held tomorrow, starting at 7.30p.m., at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Blenheim Drive and this year will be led by Colleen from our own church. It will last for about an hour and is organised by Allestree Churches Together. Come and share with others as we celebrate again the birth of Christ. The theme is: “And He shall be called…” and there will be a retiring offering which will go towards the Refugee crisis.
Phil is taking the assembly at Portway Infants School this Tuesday morning.
Elders’ Meetings Our elders are meeting at various times this week – please keep them in prayer. New congregation elders – Tuesday; Allestree elders – Thursday; Oakwood

The next Woodlands Allestree church family meeting will take place this Wednesday at 7.45pm in the church building. Paper copies of the agenda and the
new mission statement are available on the table. Please be praying about this meeting and

A reminder that our Christmas publicity is now available. We are NOT doing a massive
distribution this year so do take some and use it prayerfully to invite friends and family to our
Christmas services.
OAKS Christmas Dinner: There are some places available on Tuesday, 15th December (lunch-time), with a choice of a three or two course meal (£20.00 & £17.00 respectively), including coach travel, to Willersley Castle, Cromford, Matlock. Please see/contact Malcolm Brown in the next few days if you would like to come and join us. The 4 messages from Acts from the recent church staycation are available to listen to on the
church website. Don't miss out!

decent life”
Gideons at Woodlands School.
On Wednesday, the 2nd December, the Gideons and Thiago are going to offer New Testaments to Year 7
pupils at Woodlands School. Please pray that the pupils will each take a copy which they read and share
with their parents.
Secondly, the Gideons greatly appreciate the prayerful and financial support from Woodlands Church for
the work of distributing about 84 million Bibles and Testaments annually around the world. God has
promised that His word will accomplish what He desires and it is very encouraging to see this being worked
out in the 21st Century. Thank you!
Epic Explorers is a great new holiday club resource for 5-11s from Christianity explored. We're planning to do it in February half term (15th-
19th). But to do it we really need all hands to the pump. Traditionally
Woodlands are last minute people - but in order to plan the club we really need commitment in the next few weeks from anyone able to help so we can plan a
team meeting early January. Please could you let Abby Richards or Phil
Butcher know ASAP if you're able to help with teaching, helping, refreshments,
music, drama, crafts & praying. Thanks.
The Dove Project is planning to serve a Christmas meal for homeless and vulnerable adults. We would like to give out gift bags. If anyone would like to donate a Terry’s Chocolate Orange (£1 in
a number of places) and any men’s toiletries, please place them in the box in the foyer by Sunday 13 December. Further details from Louise Morgan.
Church Family Picnic – next Sunday after the morning service.
There are still Leftover containers in the kitchen – please collect a.s.a.p.
Dan Findlay has mislaid his speakers – they look like a glasses case – have you seen them/got them?

Church Administrator: Sue Smith, our current Church Administrator, has indicated her desire to step down from the role around Easter next year. We will miss her massive contribution enormously! Please do speak to Tim Gunn, one of our full-time pastors, if you are interested in the possibility of taking on this paid role. In addition, do speak to Sue directly if you'd like more information about what it involves.
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD: Just to let you know that we sent 141 shoeboxes to the appeal this year. They will be going to Serbia.
The next edition of Loose Leaves , our church magazine, is out after Christmas so if you
would like to contribute please get your articles to Andy Brown, preferably by email or via the pigeon hole at church. Closing date for submissions is Sunday 20th December.
