Brass

Decades ago one of the most popular concerts at the Worcester Music Festival was Artist Night, where stars of the Metropolitan Opera would come to Worcester. Music Worcester is pleased to bring back that tradition with mezzo-soprano Jamie Barton—winner of the Metropolitan Opera Council auditions, 2013 Cardiff Singer of the World, and fresh off her resounding success in Norma at the Metropolitan Opera this past fall. Other recent and upcoming appearances include Houston Grand Opera, the Cleveland Orchestra, Lyric Opera of Chicago, and an invitation to sing at Marilyn Horne’s 80th birthday party.

Now in its 43rd season, Canadian Brass has performed in virtually every major concert hall in the world, sold two million of its almost 100 albums worldwide, and contributed nearly 600 new works and arrangements to the brass quintet repertoire. Renowned for genre-bending versatility and joyous performances, Canadian Brass is responsible for elevating the art of the brass quintet to what it is today. Canadian Brass is made up of five amazing talents: visionary founder and tuba legend Chuck Daellenbach, Caleb Hudson and Christopher Coletti (trumpets), Achilles Liarmakopoulos (trombone) and Bernhard Scully (horn).
