The Department of CSE, MVJ College of Engineering, organized a two-day Workshop on Internet of Things, and its applications using TIVA’, on 18 th and 19 th February 2019, at Seminar Hall 6. The purpose of this Workshop was to expose the students to the basic concepts of Internet of Things (IoT), with hands-on training using advanced development tools from Texas Instruments. The Guest Trainers were Mr. Balaji and Mr. Javad, who are Corporate Trainers from Edgate Technologies Pvt. Ltd. 77 students registered for the Workshop. The students (4 th and 6 th semester - CSE) and faculty members arrived by 8.45 am for the inauguration of the Workshop. The event started at 9.00 am with a Welcome Speech by Mr. Vinay Pradeep N (AP/CSE). Mr. Balaji (Embedded System Engineer - Edgate Technologies Pvt. Ltd.), Mr. Javad (Application Engineer - Edgate Technologies Pvt. Ltd.), Dr. Nagaraj Sitaram (Principal) and Prof. I Manimozhi (HOD - CSE) were seated on the dais. A brief introduction about the Trainers was given. Dr. Nagaraj Sitaram (Principal) addressed the students about the importance of Internet of Things and its applications, and advised them to actively participate and gain hands-on training at the two-day Workshop. The Trainer Mr. Balaji started the Workshop at 9.30 am. On the first day of the Workshop, i.e. 18 th February 2019, Mr. Balaji gave an introduction to Internet of Things and its basic concepts. The architecture of TIVA microcontroller TM4C123GH6PM was explained in detail. The basic applications such as LED blinking, PWM, ADC and UART were implemented by the students. The Trainers Mr. Balaji and Mr. Javad actively helped the students to implement the IOT applications. Mr. Balaji also explained IP address printing and the working of TCP and UDP protocol. On the second day of the Workshop, i.e. 19 th February 2019, Mr. Balaji explained the working of HTTP protocol. The students also learnt the implementation of Blynk cloud. They gained knowledge about the various protocols such as IFTTT, MQTT and RSLK protocols. ‘Internet of Things, and its Applications using TIVA’

By the time the Workshop ended, the students gained hands-on training on IOT applications

using TIVA microcontroller. The Workshop concluded at 4.00 pm on 19th February 2019.

Outcome of the Event:

The students learnt the architecture of TIVA microcontroller. They implemented applications

such as LED blinking, PWM, ADC and UART. They also learnt the implementation of Blynk

cloud, IP address printing and the working of protocols like TCP, UDP, FTTT, MQTT and

RSLK protocols. By the end of the two-day workshop, the students gained hands-on training

and knowledge in IoT. The two-day Workshop was conducted to attain the POs - Engineering

Knowledge, Problem Analysis, Design/Development of Solutions, Modern Tool Usage and

Lifelong Learning.
