Aim World Immunization Week 2014
Raise public awareness of how immunization saves lives, encouraging people everywhere to vaccinate themselves and their children against deadly disease.
Objective
To enhance awareness of Teachers, religious leaders, students regarding vaccines and its importance
To increase knowledge of community regarding immunization and its importance so the they can make own effort to immunize their children
To enhance awareness of school going children regarding health and hygiene

Introduction Health Education and Literacy Program is working on the project “Mother and Child Friendly Community” for immunization of children and Child bearing age females. The main focus of celebration of Students Drawing competition was to aware children regarding health and hygiene issues in very friendly environment so that they can pick up things easily.
In this regard HELP organized Students drawing competition to raise awareness, improve skills of the children and increase participation at each level.
Specific Objective
• To provide platform to children where they can learn about health and hygiene in friendly and participatory environment
• To enhance awareness of school going children regarding health and hygiene
Other Objectives • To boost the skills of the children and release the education related
stress • To engage the children in other extra-curricular activities and bring
positive change in their life style • To arrange exhibition of the drawing and provide opportunity to
children for their capacity building
Methodology : A HELP Team consists of Project coordinator and social mobilizer visited four primary and secondary schools of two Union councils UC-Soomer Faqir and UC Barhoon and drawing competition was organized on health issue students participating drawing competition were given a pencil, sharpener, eraser, set of color and two flip charts and they were asked to form a painting related to following subject which delivered message to others like
Drawing on daily brushing to the teeth
Drawing On daily bathing
Drawing to use soap after defecation and before food
Drawing to put used material in the dust bin and maintain cleanliness
Drawing to make environment neat clean
Drawing of Hand washing and steps of hand washing
Drawing to avoid going to electricity of electric board
As children selected were from class 4 to 5 and their skill in the drawing were not enough to touch these topics on drawing paper therefore a small orientation session was given before start of drawing competition by the Health coordinator Shahdadpur on above given subjects to aware them regarding Health and hygiene issues. After session students were asked to draw whatever comes in their mind
Result When HELP teams visited the Schools, they observed following changes in the
1. A total of 3 session conducted in which 224 students participated among them 68 were female while remaining were male. Students enrolled in the competition were from class 4 and class 5
2. Students listened to the orientation on health and hygiene with interest and they will memorize point told them about health and hygiene whenever they think about painting competition
3. Children at the day of drawing competition were very happy and colorful like paintings and participated happily in the event.
4. Some of the children shared that they want to do painting in future too because they enjoyed a lot and took interest in it
5. There was positive change in the attitude and behaviors of the children after the event
6. Teachers shared idea that there were some students who were not very good in studies but today we found the with a brilliant drawing skills
7. Some of the teachers shared that attendance and the interest of the students in the school was maximum than previous
8. Head of the school shared that the enrollment of students in the schools will increase after the painting competition because they will hear that children are also provided other opportunities other than the curriculum
9. Head of one school shared that we will encourage you to conduct such a brilliant activities in the class on routinely basis
10.After looking interest of student One HEAD of the school promised that He will conduct such activities in his school on monthly basis by his own
Recommendation
This activity should be conducted in every school of the union council to increase awareness of health and hygiene in the students and to increase attendance of the student in the schools
This activity should also be arranged for children not going to school in the community to create awareness and increase their interest towards school and education
This activity should also be organized by the schools on monthly or weekly basis
Conclusion
Overall impact of this activity was brilliant as observed each one students, teachers, other school staff participated with interest and every one was quite happy

1. Teacher orientation session:
Introduction The purpose of involving teachers in the immunization weak activities was that
They are the considered to be the educated and, the most respected part of the villages and society and their decision is valuable and has great impact in community.
· Teachers can be a tremendous resource for disseminating
helpful information about immunization to students, parents, community and others. For example, when community has any difficulty regarding any issue like health , wealth or other first they try to get information from any educated and literate person surrounding and the teacher is one who is always their with them and children.
When teacher is aware about the benefits of immunization he first
check , immunize , and protect his family who need to be vaccinated and then acts as a tool for advocating community and parents who don’t understand the benefits of immunization, or are concerned about rumors or misinformation.

A HELP Team consists of Project coordinator and social mobilizer visited 3 schools of two Union councils UC-Soomer Faqir , UC Barhoon GPS Sayed fakrullah shah , GPS Mehran town, GPS Fazal talhani )
Before start of orientation session basic knowledge of the teachers was assessed through a small questionnaire written in local language as “Pre-test questionnaire”. All participants were informed that this pre test is just to assess impact of orientation on their knowledge for their confidentiality regarding knowledge questionnaire were anonymously filled they were told that do not write your name on pre-test.
Project coordinator gave orientation lecture on given topic by using power point presentation and using flip charts. Duration of lecture was approximately 30 minute all presentations were organized in local language so that they can understand easily. Orientation session covered same topics as given in pre and post test like what is immunity, how immunity acts naturally, what is vaccine, type of vaccine, how vaccine prevents from diseases , Nutrition , daily nutrition requirements for pregnant women, importance of breast feed , what is exclusive breast feed , complimentary feed.
After orientation session Refreshment like cold drink were given to participants.
After 30 minutes same Questionnaire was given to teacher as POST TEST and they were asked to fill it again then these pre-test and post-test results were analyzed in SPSS Vr. 20 IBM and results are given in frequencies, table, percentage, Bar graph, pie graph.
1.2 Result/Outcomes: A total four orientation session of teachers were organized in different school of two UCs soomar foqir and Barhoon . There were total 45 participants in four sessions. Following is the result of selected variables.

2.0 Religious Leaders Orientation session: 2.1 Methodology:
A HELP Team consists of Project coordinator and social mobilizer visited main madarsas of two Union councils UC-Soomer Faqir and UC Barhoon and delivered Orientation session to regious leaders (Molana) and students of the Madarsa. Session included topics like what is immunity, how immunity acts naturally, what is vaccine, type of vaccine, how vaccine prevents from diseases to occur. Session will also cover Nutrition , daily nutrition requirements for pregnant women, importance of breast feed , what is exclusive breast feed , complimentary feed. These orientation lectures were conducted through flip chart and Pre and post lecture small multiple choice tests was conducted to evaluate impact of orientation session on teacher knowledge.
2.2 Result: Knowledge of Religious leaders was very poor in the indicators selected for orientation in Pre assessment test like Only 3 out of 30 know what is immunity, 2 out of 30 know how immunity acts, 8 out of 30 know about vaccine and 4 out of 30 know mechanism of vaccine, while information like breast feed all 20 out of 30 know about importance of breast feed while 4 out of 30 knows something about exclusive breast feed. After assessing knowledge of religious leaders an orientation regarding given indicators was given by Project coordinator HELP Sajid Hussain Soomro . Presentation was given in local language and in a very simple manner so that they can understand easily. Impact of presentation was assessed by Similar Post test in which result was much better than the pre test.
In post test 22 out of 30 know what is immunity, 22 out of 30 know how immunity acts, 26 out of 30 know about vaccine and 19 out of 30 know mechanism of vaccine, while information like breast feed all 30 out of 30 know about importance of breast feed while 28 out of 30 knows something about exclusive breast feed.

Community Session for Female During world immunization week 2014 this activity “Orientation of community male” was organized by HELP in two union councils Barhoon and soomar faqir. During world immunization week 2014 this activity “Orientation of community female” was organized by HELP in two union councils Barhoon and soomar faqir. In this activity community members were organized at certain places and information regarding Breast feeding exclusive breast complimentary feed, immunization, importance of immunization, How to prevent from disease, basic health and Hygiene issues. A Total of 31 participants were given session by the Project coordinator HELP.
