A total of 1,025 Thanksgiving Baskets were given away at the November 22nd Thanksgiving Basket Give Away Rally And an additional 25 Turkeys were donated to the Department of Youth Services for their Annual Thanksgiving Meal for Parents and Residents.

As World Missions EXTENSION Center now prepare for its December 20th Toy Give Away Rally being held at

McKinley Technology High School in the gym, we want to also express our thanks and appreciation to our partners (which included: the North Capital Ecumenical Council and Rhode Island Ave Churches, McLean Bible

Church, the North Capital Collaborative and the Department of Youth Rehabilitative Services Just FRIENDS Chaplains office) for helping us on November 22nd give away a total of 1,025 Thanksgiving Baskets at

our annual Thanksgiving Basket Give Away Community Worship Service which was held at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. In attendance at the rally were foster care parents, families living in shelters, the

community, representing each quadrant of the city. As one of the main recipients of baskets this year, and as a part of World Missions EXTENSION Center’s long standing relationship with the Metropolitan Police

Department and its newest program entitled: “Through the Eyes of a Police Officer” which is designed to share what the Metropolitan Police daily see and do in the line of duty, protecting our community a total

of 450 of the total number of Thanksgiving Baskets were given to Asst. Chief Diane Groomes and the Metropolitan Police Department to kick off its “Through the Eyes of a Police Officer” program. Police

officers from each district showed up at the rally to load up their vehicles ready to deliver Thanksgiving Baskets donated to the Rally by McLean Bible Church to the most neediest families in DC; a total of 400

baskets were given to families in attendance at the worship service. Remaining baskets were disbursed to senior citizens, mentally and physically challenged individuals, families living in shelters, foster care and

others needing food for their Thanksgiving Meal with their families. As World Missions toy DRIVE is

presently going on, there is a great need for toys this year. Please feel free to drop a new wrapped toy with the

age and sex of a child by the EXTENSION Center or if you would like to make a tax deductible contribution

towards the toy Drive, please note that such contribution would be considered as being tax deductible, and the

check should be made to World Missions EXTENSION Center, or you can make a donation using Pay Pal.

Again we want to say Merry Christmas and thanks in advance for your help in making a child smile at this special time of the year.

Thanks,
