Handball enthusiasts are guaranteed a never to be forgotten

The biggest handball event with over 1,500 competitors from up to 33 countries willconverge on Dublin this October 2012. GAA Handball Irelands plans for this eagerly

awaited championships, announced in April 2011, has been wholly welcomed by theworld handball community. I have no doubt that there will continue to be factors whichwill keep all players and officials anticipating exactly what is set to unfold and, following1000s of calls and emails to our National Office following various announcements, I canassure everyone that all plans have been put in place for the best interest of our sport,players, officials and clubs in Ireland and around the world.

When anything new comes along it will always bring with it a sense of the unknownand while any player who has looked at the plans must surely have been excited,enthusiastic and generally overwhelmed by the nature of what is to be presented, I amalso well aware that a sense of trepidation must also be prevalent within the handballcommunity.

I wish to say to all players the world over now that this plan has been researchedintensively for over two years now and that all facets of the plan will be delivered toensure that everyone who is present will savour the most memorable of World HandballChampionships.

It can also pave the way for a future significant leap in profile and development of the

game worldwide and this can only benefit us all. Added to that the launch of the newInternational One Wall Handball Federation (WWBA), with the prospect of OlympicStatus down the line, and I can only imagine that every player the world over will wantto be a part of it.

Now is the time for the entire international handball community to unite at anopportunity which can transform our thinking and approach to the organisation of all ourcodes of handball. It can only succeed at the level we all hope for by the support of allparties in Ireland and the world over.

We have already had confirmed that over 1,000 players will be in attendance and hugenumbers will continue to enter the playing equation as well as plans for spectators forwhat will be a very unique handballing occasion.

The new website has gone live for the event www.worldhandball2012.com alongwith taster information. The complete online registration process will be announced andlive by end of June 2012 and the full official launch will take place in early July as a hostof exciting new announcements will be made which will enhance the anticipation levelseven further. The World Championship Executive committee has now been formed and

has met to now expand on all the components which will be required to make this theevent all that we all hope it will be.

You are in a massive sporting arena. Twenty two handball courts are in front of you. The very best players from all around the world are in action in those courts Almost 5,000 spectators are cheering at the brilliant, dynamic fast paced action andskill on view. TV cameras are rolling to capture the action and the unrivalled atmosphere allaround. Families are buzzing as children (from 9 years of age) and grandparents (over 80sgrade) will all compete for gold. Over thirty country flags are flying with the pride of winning a gold medal for yournation providing a sensation feeling.

World Handball Championships 2012 - Entry information...

Entry Fees:

100 / $135US / 85stg per person for first entryto any grade in the World Championships.25 / $35US / 20stg per person for each entryafterwards.70 / $90US / 60stg per JUNIOR for first entry toany grade in the World Championships.15 per / $20US / 12stg JUNIOR entry entryafterwards

All players can enter a maximum of 4 events (in allcompetitions maximum 3 in either in 4-wall 4020 orin One Wall).All entrants will be given a unique World Championship

Tournament Jersey with their entry and must provideexact size on entry. Very Special Competitor Packs witha host of World Championship Merchandise will also beprovided to all entrants on registration.SPECIAL PACKAGE DISCOUNT: For Clubs sending agroup of Players to the Worlds, for every 10 Playersentered 2 are FREE ENTRY, ie. Enter x 10 and pay x8entry fees.

Presentations:There will be official Podium presentations of Gold,Silver and Bronze Medals for all A Grade

Championships announced by the World ChampionshipExecutive Committee (3rd Place Playoff will be requiredfor Bronze medals). Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals willalso apply for all grades.

Special Crystal Presentations will also be made forOpen Events and certain key awards over the course of

the Championships.

GRADING & Eligibility for Grades shown:Players may enter grades and criteria for each grade(where relevant) will be provided by The Worlds

Executive Committee. All Entry Gradings must beapproved by the World Championship GradingsCommittee. Following release of Officials entries in allGrades, players who have been moved up from thegrade they have entered have 7 days to appeal thisdecision to the World Championship GradingsCommittee. Appeals can only then be made to theWorld Championship Executive Committee. WorldChampionship Executive Committee reserve(s) the rightto combine/cancel a division due to insufficient entries.

Official Ball:GAA Handball ONEILLS International Ball 4020 AdultGrades; GAA Handball Official Dark Blue Ball 4020 forall Womens Events & for Boys Juniors 15&U, 13&U.GAA Handball Official Challenger 2 Ball for 11 & UnderBoys and Girls.

Age Requirement:October 20th 2012 for ALL Youth Events: For age divisioncompetition, players must meet the proper age requirement in2012 and Juniors by October 20th 2012 for ALL Events.Masters Grades: Eligible as per the Year of the competition,

ie. Age 40 in 2012 eligible to compete in Masters 40+ Grade.Be prepared to show proof of age. This date is applicable forALL EVENTS, regardless of their concluding participation date

in the World Championships.
