Revelation & Response

Deuteronomy 10:12-22 (ESV) 12 “And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, 13 and to keep the commandments and statutes of the Lord, which I am commanding you today for your good? 14 Behold, to the Lord your God belong heaven and the heaven of heavens, the earth with all that is in it. 15 Yet the Lord set his heart in love on your fathers and chose their offspring after them, you above all peoples, as you are this day. 16 Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no longer stubborn. 17 For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who is not partial and takes no bribe. 18 He executes justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the sojourner, giving him food and clothing. 19 Love the sojourner, therefore, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt. 20 You shall fear the Lord your God. You shall serve him and hold fast to him, and by his name you shall swear. 21 He is your praise. He is your God, who has done for you these great and terrifying things that your eyes have seen. 22 Your fathers went down to Egypt seventy persons, and now the Lord your God has made you as numerous as the stars of heaven.

Assurance of Pardon

Revelation 22:1-5 (ESV) 1 Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2 through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. 3 No longer will there be anything accursed, but the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him. 4 They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. 5 And night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever.

The Word He, the Word, from the beginning,

was with the Father one,

and the Word made earth His dwelling place

to bring all things above.

He has brought us to a dawning,

opening up a brand-new day,

and the Word became light for us,

shining bright the way.

We beheld the Father’s glory,

and glory of His Son.

Word of God, fullness of all grace and truth,

fill us with light and love.

He, the Word, from the beginning,

the Father’s plan fulfilled.

Born to die for our deliverance,

the living Christ prevailed.

When He comes again in glory,

Lord Jesus, King of kings,

every knee on earth will bow to Him

in all His victory!

We behold the Father’s glory,

and glory of His Son.

Word of God, fullness of all grace and truth,

fill us with light and love.

The spirit of God having led us to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior; and, on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, in the presence of God and this assembly with prayer and joy in our hearts, enter into covenant with one another, as one body in Christ, to be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Savior.

We commit ourselves, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love, to work for the advancement of this church in knowledge, holiness and compassion, to advance its spiritual welfare, to sustain its worship, ordinances, disciplines and doctrines, and to support cheerfully and systematically its financial ministry.

We also commit ourselves to maintain daily family and personal devotions; to educate our children in religious truth; to endeavor to win to Christ both those near at hand and those far removed; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful to our commitments and exemplary in our actions; to avoid all unkind conversation and excessive anger; and to be filled by the Spirit (Eph. 5:18).

We further commit ourselves to practice brotherly love; to remember each other in prayer, to aid each other in sickness and distress; to be courteous in speech and action; to be slow to take offense, but quick to reconcile according to the teachings of Christ.

We moreover agree that when we move from this vicinity, we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.

Global

Today we will pray for Croatia.

Population: 4,409,659

1.90% Muslim

0.4% Believers

2% Unreached People Groups

Historically, minority groups were the main force among Protestants/Independents, but this is changing. Evangelicals are one of the few groups to successfully unite people from different ethnic backgrounds. Many Bosnians, Croats, and Serbs have been won to Christ and fellowship together. Pray that evangelicals continue to demonstrate the love of God that overcomes divisions.

We will also pray for CrossPoint Baptist Church

and their Pastor, Nicholas Taylor.

“It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35). One of the greatest joys for Christians is being able to give cheerfully, generously, and sacrificially. There is tremendous satisfaction that comes from seeing the fruits of our labor multiplied many times over in the lives of others. Money is a powerful thing, and when we use it well, it has potential to do incredible good. We hope that we’re able to excel in the grace of giving. And so having been found faithful with little, God will be pleased to entrust us with more.

Who’s Your One Rally

Join us tonight at 6pm at Istrouma Baptist Church for the “Who’s Your One” rally. This will be a time for you to be inspired and challenged from the Word of God in personal evangelism. Ushers Breakfast

Ushers, join us on Sunday, February 2 at 8:00 a.m. for breakfast where we will review our responsibilities, talk about ways we can grow in our roles, and discuss ways to improve security in light of what has happened most recently at West Freeway Church of Christ in White Settlement, TX.

Teaching the Bible

Beginning Sunday, February 9 at 3:30 p.m., Pastor Lewis will be teaching an 8-week discipleship course on teaching the Bible. Regardless of the context, if you teach the Bible, have a desire to teach the Bible, or are simply interested in learning how to study Scripture better, this course is for you! Register at wbcbr.org/ministries/discipleship.

Belize Blessing Bags

As Woodlawn ministers in Belize, we will encounter many families who are in need of the basic items you'd find in your own home—Rice, Beans, and Flour. We at Woodlawn, who are sending this team, have the opportunity to help them reach needs and ena-ble them to shop and package goods into what we are calling "blessing bags." When delivering the blessing bags to families, the team is able to visit with them, spend time in their home, see how they live, and most importantly share the gospel. For an estimated $20/blessing bag, you can provide a family with the necessary goods to help them in their time of need. For $20 you could feed a family for a whole month. Will you consider giving toward this initi-ative to put supplies in the hands of our team to show the love of God to those in need?
