WELCOME BACK.

WOUNDS UKANNUALCONFERENCE2021.On behalf of the entire team at Wounds UK, may I welcome you and thank you for attending this year’s conference.

The past 18 months or so have brought many challenges and given us new opportunities to change how we work, deliver services to patients and manage our daily lives. With that in mind, this year’s programme will focus on our successes and learnings, and how these can be applied in practice as we move forward out of the pandemic.

Session highlights include updates from the National Strategy and the UK’s National Groups, launches of new Wounds UK and international best practice and consensus documents, as well as a host of clinical sessions in a variety of important therapy areas.

On Monday, we are running our popular and interactive Made Easy sessions, and, as with past years’ we are delighted that the Foot In Diabetes UK (FDUK) Conference will run alongside our regular programme on Tuesday in the King’s Suite.

We are also joined in strength by our industry colleagues, who will be looking forward to seeing you in the exhibition area for the duration of the conference.

Please be mindful that the pandemic is still in evidence and we are encouraging the use of facemasks or coverings (unless exempt) for everybody attending the conference. We ask that you use your own judgement at busy times and that you carry a mask with you over the next 3 days.

Can I thank you again for joining us this year. Whether you have attended the conference in the past, or this is your first visit to Wounds UK, I sincerely hope you enjoy this unique learning and networking experience.

Unique recipe book brings people together from across the globe to tackle isolation and raise money for charity.Discover (or rediscover!) the joy of cooking by ordering a copy of the Leg Club Favourites Recipe book and support the Leg Club Foundation Charity. Visit www.legclub.org to download an order form or contact [email protected] unique recipe book has been created containing contributions from NHS staff and international healthcare practitioners as well as volunteers, members, and friends of Leg Clubs from across the UK and further afield. The recipe book, called Leg Club Favourites, is the result of a project, which started during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown as a means of reaching out to people in isolation.

Ellie Lindsay OBE, Lifetime President of the Lindsay Leg Club Foundation, asked people to share their family favourite recipes as a means of connecting with others and providing cooking inspiration during this difficult time. What started out as a way of reducing feelings of social isolation and tackling the lockdown blues with a few friends rapidly grew with over 150 recipes contributed by over 70 individuals in just a few weeks.

The idea to collate all the recipes into a book as a fundraising venture for the Foundation’s charity swiftly followed. The recipe book contains contributions from people of all ages and nationalities reflecting the vast network of people across the globe who are part of the Leg Club family. It has recipes old and new, from tried and trusted favourites handed down through generations, to chefs’ signature dishes, and the expertise of experienced Leg Club cake makers.

Friendly competition has been welcomed with various contenders for the best lemon drizzle cake and no less than three different versions of Dorset apple cake! There are also contributions from foodies and award-winning renowned chefs.

There is a recipe to suit everyone in this book, as it includes quick and simple meals as well as more complex dishes. There are English classics such as toad in the hole, casserole and pheasant, alongside modern and international dishes such as vindaloo, bobotie, Finnish baked salmon, paella, koftas and vegan oat and lentil balls. Not to mention various breads, cakes, puddings, and biscuits.

It is the perfect gift for a loved one or as a treat for yourself ! All profits made from sales of the recipe book will be directly donated to the Leg Club Foundation (CRN 1111259) and support the work of Leg Clubs, which care for people with lower leg wounds in a community setting. Many people with leg wounds are isolated because of pain, mobility issues and the stigma surrounding their wounds. This book will make a much-needed contribution to the provision of support for this undervalued and sadly often neglected group of people.
