Purpose
“If you want to write a note
Or tell someone about your day,
Try writing a friendly letter.
It’s a quick and easy way!”
Parts 1 and 2
Start with the heading,
Including the month, day, and year.
Then add the salutation,
Which usually begins with Dear.
Part 1: Heading
Example:
November 5, 2007
Part 2: Opening (Salutation)
Example:
Dear Elves,
Part 3
The body is next,
A really important part.
Share a story, ask a question,
Or say what’s in your heart.
Part 3: The Body
Example:
Thank you so much for making all the shoes. You have been so very kind to me and my wife.
Parts 4 and 5
The closing uses words
Like Sincerely or Your friend,
And with your signature,
Your letter has come to an end.
Part 4: The Closing

Love,
