Seattle Central’s Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) in Applied Behavioral Science teaches students to apply fundamentals and specialized knowledge of this discipline

to a variety of human service professions. The program provides a solid foundation in environmental science, social psychology, research principles, cultural competency, public policy analysis and more. Students complete two internships and can pursue elective courses to specialize their program of study.

A profession with a futureWith the education and training provided by this program, students are qualified for a variety of positions for credentialed social service providers with bachelor’s degrees, in fields such as mental health, early childhood education, family support services, interpreting services and more.

Reputation for excellenceThe degree builds on the 30-year success of Seattle Central’s existing associate degree programs in Child and Family Studies, Deaf Studies and Social and Human Services. Taught by accomplished faculty, classes are small, engaging and designed to prepare students for the rigors of the field.

Accessible and affordableThe only one of its kind in the region, this degree program is accessible to working students, with most classes offered during evenings. Tuition is thousands of dollars less than at four-year colleges/universities and for-profit institutions.

EligibilityTo be admitted, you must hold at least a two-year degree in social and human services, chemical dependency, early childhood education, interpreting services or a related field.
