Festive spirit is in plentiful supply as Poplar gets ready for the holidays. A trip to see the Regent Street lights and a visit from a BBC film crew promise to make this 1960 Christmas one to remember. As the community pulls together to prepare for the televised carol concert, Nonnatus is rocked to the core when one of its own goes missing, causing a full-scale manhunt. Meanwhile an unexpected surprise for a grieving mother may help bring the Christmas magic home. Heralded as the most moving and enjoyable holiday episode yet, the 2015 Call the Midwife Holiday Special debuts on Christmas Night, Friday, Dec. 25 at 8 p.m. The special leads the way for a fifth season of the hit drama coming to WTVP this spring.

Celtic Woman Returns to Peoria…On Screen and StageEnjoy the newest live performance from the amazing artists of Celtic Woman, who have touched hearts and lifted spirits for more than a decade—first on WTVP then in person at the Peoria Civic Center Theater.Celtic Woman: Destiny contains a host of brand new material along with fresh arrangements of some of their most spellbinding songs from throughout their 10-year career. Máiréad Nesbitt, Susan McFadden, Mairéad Carlin and the newest addition to the troupe, Éabha McMahon, are joined on stage for several songs by original Celtic Woman, Meav, who has worked closely with the group on the new recordings and preparation for this special. The program also features a guest performance by Rebecca Winckworth singing “Isle of Innisfree” and Celtic Woman performing a duet with renowned German Celtic music star Oonagh.
Celtic Woman: Destiny premieres on WTVP Wednesday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. with an exciting ticket offer and exclusive meet ’n’ greet opportunity to the live stage show coming to Peoria on March 12, 2016. December is upon us and with it we welcome in a season of joy and giving. And, certainly, WTVP has much to celebrate: a national winner, an Emmy Award, a new local series, incredible local productions, celebrity guests, hundreds of dedi-cated volunteers and thousands of generous members and donors. And, of course, the best television on television. It is also a season of reflection and remembrance. We have lost many good friends this year and it is with great sadness that we mark the recent passing of two of them.Margaret O’Neill was the matriarch of the O’Neill family and it was through her and her late husband Bill’s generosity that WTVP was able to acquire our current home here on State Street—formerly the O’Neill Bros. Transfer & Storage facility. Marge was a woman of faith, family and quiet philanthropy who led by example with grace, class and style. A portrait of her and Bill hangs in our entry way—a ma-jor concession for a woman who mainly preferred her gifts to remain anonymous. That portrait was painted by Mr. Bill Hardin, a talented artist and long-time friend of WTVP. It was our great pleasure to work closely with Bill to host an exhibit of his extensive collection here at the station, and it is our honor to have three of his portraits in our permanent collection: the O’Neills, Glen and Polly Barton
and station founder Phil Weinberg. Our deepest condolences go out to both the O’Neill and Hardin families. We are grate-ful to have been part of your loved one’s life and legacy. And it is a time to look to the future and all it holds for making WTVP an even stronger public media organization for central Illinois in the digital age. I encourage you to visit wtvp.org for more information about the FCC Spectrum Auction and what it could mean to you.
On behalf of the staff and board of WTVP, I thank you for your support of WTVP and wish you and yours a peaceful and prosperous holiday season.

Sounds of the SeasonInternationally renowned modern hymn writers and recording artists Keith and Kristyn Getty bring their popular Christmas performance to public television for the first time. The concert features a vibrant collection of beloved carols, modern hymns, and spirited Irish reels and jigs that capture the wonder and beauty of Christmas in the Getty’s signature style of Celtic, bluegrass, Americana and classical music. The performance showcases the couple’s acclaimed ensemble of top Irish and American folk musicians, including esteemed choir Anúna, Fionan de Barra of Broadway’s Riverdance, vio-linist and vocalist Deborah Klemme, and Uilleann piper Patrick D’Arcy, among others. Keith and Kristyn Getty: Joy An Irish Christmas airs Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m.
The Three Tenors — José Carreras, Plácido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti — return to public television with their classic holiday special. Taped in December 1999 at the Konzerthaus in Vienna and directed by David Mallet, this amazing concert features popular Christmas songs, beloved carols, and sacred hymns, including “White Christmas,” “Sleigh Ride,” “Adestes Fideles,” and “Ave Maria, Dolce Maria”. The tenors are accompanied by The Vienna Symphony and joined by the Gumpoldskirchner Spatzen Children’s Choir. The Three Tenors Christmas airs Friday, Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m. and encores Sunday, Dec. 6 at 3:30 p.m.

Salute to Downton AbbeyAs the top-rated PBS drama of all time approaches its sixth and final season, join host Hugh Bonneville (aka Robert, Earl of Grantham) to look back on this remarkable series and its beloved characters, and enjoy a tantalizing glimpse of what the climactic nine episodes in Season 6 — premiering Sunday, January 3, 2016, on Masterpiece — will bring. Where will fate, passion, ambition and duty lead television’s cherished characters?
Featuring interviews with writer and creator Julian Fellowes, exec-utive producer Gareth Neame and the cast, A Salute to Downton Abbey includes favorite scenes and behind-the-scenes footage from both above and below stairs. And with his characteristic charm and wit, host Hugh Bonneville recalls the high points from storylines of the past five seasons, and helps answer fans’ burning questions about Lady Mary, Bates and Anna, Lady Edith and Marigold, and the wedding of Carson and Mrs. Hughes.
Find A Salute to Downton Abbey during our membership drive for your chance to pre-order Season 6 on BluRay or DVD and get pre-mium tickets to our “Evening with Alastair Bruce”—a special event on Dec. 11 with the series’ on-set “historical oracle” who helps create and authenticate life at Downton Abbey. Air dates include Nov. 29 at 8 p.m., Nov. 30 at 8:30 p.m. and Dec. 6 at 5:30 p.m.
“Downton Abbey” is a Carnival Films/MASTERPIECE co-pro-duction.

Recorded before a live audience at the historic Los Angeles Theater in downtown L.A., Josh Groban: Stages Live brings some of the most iconic songs in the Broad-way musical songbook to life.

Songs from the special include “All I Ask of You,” with Kelly Clarkson (The Phantom of the Opera), “An-them” (Chess), “Bring Him Home” (Les Misérables), “If I Loved You” (Carousel), “Pure Imagination” (Charlie & the Chocolate Factory), “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” (The Wizard of Oz), “You’ll Never Walk Alone” (Carousel), “Try to Remember” (The Fantasticks), “What I Did For Love” (A Chorus Line) and “Not While I’m Around” (Sweeney Todd).

Rockin’ Classic LegendsPete Townshend’s classic rock opera comes to life in a new symphonic incarnation featuring Alfie Boe, Billy Idol, Phil Daniels, Townshend himself, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. A stunning concert filmed at the Royal Albert Hall, Pete Townshend’s Classic Quadrophe-nia airs Friday, Dec. 4 at 9 p.m.
As a leading icon of the British music revolution of the 1960s, Townshend made his name by creating the power chord, smashing guitars onstage, and penning anthems of teenage rebellion. Now, at age 70 and half a century after he penned the lyric “Hope I die before I get old,” this orchestral version of The Who’s seminal rock opera ensures his place in the canon of important 20th-century composers. Orchestrated by composer/sing-er-songwriter Rachel Fuller.
In 1971, the Rolling Stones took the stage at London’s famed Marquee Club, delivering an intimate performance on the very stage the legendary group began its career nearly a decade earlier. Footage from this epic night reportedly languished in an attic for nearly two decades, but has recently been restored and the audio re-mastered. The end product is a riveting look back at the band in its prime. Highlights include a preview of then-new songs from Sticky Fingers (“Brown Sugar,” “Dead Flowers”) and hits from Let It Bleed (“Live With Me,” “Midnight Rambler,” and more). The Rolling Stones: From the Vault: 1971 Live from the Marquee airs Saturday, Dec. 5 at 9:30 p.m. with an encore following at midnight.
