Jews were crushed to

death. Thirty thousand

Jewish males were taken

to concentration camps;

and 1,668 synagogues

were rummaged through

by Nazis. The Nazis

burned 267 Jewish syna-

gogues.

By World War 2, al-

most all Jewish organiza-

tions had either collapsed

under economic pressure

and declining profits, or

had been forced to sell out

to the Nazi-German gov-

ernment as part of the “

Aryanization” rule in 1937.

As the warfare started,

enormous massacres of

Jews took place.

Belguim , Romania,

Luxemborg, Norway, and

Estonia lost around half of

their Jewish residents, the

Soviet Union was missing

over one third of its Jews,

and even nations such as

France and Italy each saw

around a quarter of their

Jewish population killed.
