spreading computer awareness & literacy among youth Two groups set upon providing computer infrastructure and training. madhurmayee Adarsh Shiksha Niketan, where the children of prisoners are housed, was one such institute. Academic help was also provided. Additionally, at the Anand mission ashram, a Computer center was setup. This would benefit the 70+ kids taken care of by the ashram.
health & h1n1 awarenessThe projects were running when H1N1 advisories were in effect, due to isolated outbreaks. despite this, students took the initiative to go out to those who most needed it, and provide health checkups, awareness sessions, free medicines and counselling on the same. XImb students played an instrumental part in raising H1N1 awareness in various communities in bhubaneswar.

tree Planting DriveXImb students were able to achieve widespread participation in its tree planting drive in collaboration with the bakul foundation leading to planting of saplings on a wide scale. This was done by motivating School students, as well as spreading the goodwill to the general public by increasing awareness, but giving away saplings as gifts (around 1000 were given away) and over 60 planted.

continued commitment to education & community developmentover half of the effort covered learning institutions, ranging from city schools to alternative schools to institutes for differently abled, helping them in terms of improved infrastructure, educational supplies, sports and cultural events and medical camps. Apart from educational institutions, XImb students also reached out to children directly in slums, mission homes, orphanages & community centres.
A tangible difference was made in the lives of these children by the sheer variety of fun and celebrations they conducted –moviedays,talentcontests,IndependenceDaycelebrations,paintingsessions,awards,trips,quizzesetc.Moreoftenthannot,theyalsoboughttheotherstakeholders–thestaff,theparentsandsocietyatlargealsointothepicture.
Infrastructure was also taken care of with the establishment, development & renovation of various facilities from learning centres, sports & recreation rooms, to toilets & bathrooms ensuring that all their needs were taken care of. The various workshops and sessions on vocational training, awareness & counselling contribute to nurturing sustainable social growth from within. by engaging in this effort for macro change on a micro scale, XImb students take their first steps at embodying the change they want to see in this world.

Xuberance 2012Pre Placement talks (PPts)PPTs provide a platform to facilitate interaction between students and companies, so that both can find the best match according to their aspirations and requirements. For effective communication, the latest technical equipment such as audio visual facilities, LCd projector, overhead projector (oHP) and TV/VCr and any other special equipment can be made available on campus on request. The campus also has video conferencing facility. The dates for the PPTs can be obtained from the Placement office. We value any company taking some time out to getting to know our students better, and giving an opportunity for our students to do the same.
curriculum vitaeThe Institute follows a standard format for all the students applying to various companies. A company can request the CVs in the Institute’s format or any other specific format, in hard or softcopies as desired.
Lateral and fresher recruitmentThe institute does not have separate lateral and fresher recruitment processes. Hence, both the processes commence simultaneously and run during the placement week of the institute. The students rank the companies based on their prior knowledge and the information gained through company’s PPTs. based on these rankings, the job description and the compensation being offered the participating companies are allocated the time slots during which they can initiate the recruitment process.
Pre Placement offers (PPos)A pre-placement offer or PPo, post the summer internship, is a much cherished job offer before final placements. An exposure of 8 weeks gives both the organization and the student an opportunity to gauge each other’s compatibility. The firms can communicate to the Institute their decision to offer the PPos before the Placement Week commences. In the event that the company does
not have any internal rules governing this process, the students’ decision however, will be communicated to the company either after the Placement Week is over or at its assigned time slot during the Placement Week.
Job offersA Job offer is considered to be valid only if the Placement office is in receipt of the written communication of the same. Any form of verbal or telephonic communication will not be considered as job offers. The final offers for the respective candidate will be announced only at the designated day/time slots. delay or failing to do so may result in the candidate being placed in any other company. Appointment letters for the selected candidate should be sent (in duplicate) to the Placement office within 20 days of the job offer made on the campus. Candidate acknowledges the job offer by the acceptance signature, which shall be informed to the concerned company immediately.

bhubaneswarbhubaneswar, the ‘Temple metropolis of India’ was once the capital of an ancient kingdom ruled by the Chedi dynasty. Today this bustling centre for commerce and religious activity is orissa’s modern capital. The modern city of bhubaneswar was designed by the German architect otto Königsberger. In fact, the ‘new’ bhubaneswar with its contemporary architecture and extensive infrastructure perfectly complements its historic surroundings. It epitomizes the fine balance of preserving tradition and encouraging change. It is well planned and is among the cleanest cities of modern India. Currently, the city is witnessing rapid industrial growth and is on the radar of some of the nation’s top corporate houses. It is an emerging IT hub and one of the fastest developing cities of India in recent years. Leading IT organisations like Infosys, TCS and mahindra Satyam have set up their offices here. This confluence of the city’s old world charm and vibrant economy provides an ideal setting for XImb.
