Air Mails — Loss of Flying Boat 'Cygnus'.

It is notified for information that air mail correspondence for Europe posted to connect with the mails made up in Palestine on F r i ­day, the 3rd December, 1937, for despatch by the Imperial Airways was sunk on board the flying boat 'Cygnus' in Brindisi Harbour.

Full information is not yet available but it is understood that most of the mails have been salvaged.

Tenders are invited for the excavation of j trenches and construction of concrete manholes ! for the laying of underground cable ducts in Hadar Hacarmel Area, Haifa.

Prices must be quoted in Palestinian cur­rency. Quotations in other currencies will not be considered.

Intending• tenderers should apply to the Engineer Northern Division, Posts and Tele­graphs, Haifa, for the specification, form of tender and envelopes not later than the 5th January, 1938.

Tenders must be posted in time to reach the Postmaster-General, General Post Office, Jeru­salem, not !*,ter than 12 noon on the 15th Janu­ary, 1938. The envelope containing the tender should be plainly marked "Tender for Excava­tion and Construction of Manholes".

The Postmaster-General does not bind him­self to accept the lowest or any tender.

Tenders by telegraph will not be accepted.
