Maths• Go to Corbett Maths they have a range
of questions for Years 3-6 increasing in difficulty.
• Log on and play “Hit The Button” online – there’s loads of others games on that
page too! • Don’t forget to keep practising your
times tables using Times Table Rock Stars too!
• Log on to “White Rose Maths” there are 5 lessons that would have linked into
our learning in school (Summer 1 WK 2). Can you complete them all?

Week Beginning: 20.04.20Theme: Festivals and Celebrations
English• Use your Year 5/6 spelling list and choose 12
words – have a go at writing them without looking. Check. See if you can practise the
ones you got it wrong and re-test later that day. Use Spelling Frame online to help.
• Have a look at the free library of eBooks on the Oxford Owl website. Have a read and answer some of the questions at the end.
(You parent may need to register – it’s free)• Last Thursday (23rd) was St Georges day. Not
much is known about him but the most famous legend is:
George slays the dragon. A pagan town was terrorised by a dragon and demanded two sheep every day to eat.
When there were no more sheep, the villagers started to offer young women to it. The young princess was offered to the dragon and when George heard about this he rode
into the village, slayed the dragon and rescued the princess.
Can you rewrite this legend in your own words? Take this opportunity to be as descriptive as you
can be.
Science
One of our topics this year is materials and their properties. We have previously looked at reversible
and irreversible changes. Can you create an irreversible change by baking a celebration cake?
Art and Design
Can you draw your own version of St George fighting the dragon from the legend? See slide 2 for inspiration.
History
As part of our Anglo-Saxon topic we learnt about some of their celebrations. Research the
celebrations of other societies such as Romans, Celts, Mayans and Ancient
Egyptians, can you find 10 similarities and differences between the festivals
we celebrate and the festivals they celebrated?
French
A big part of celebrations are the food that is shared at them. Can you follow through our French unit on food?
PSHE and RELots of countries and cultures celebrate different
festivals all over the world. Can you learn about the festivals and celebrations of another religion such as
Islam or Buddhism? Can you find out 10 facts about the celebrations of the religion you choose and create a
presentation to show your family what you have learnt.
