Lighthouse Collage

A collage is a work of art made from a variety of materials such as paper, newsprint, photographs, fabric and any other objects.

Make your own collage of a lighthouse (about A4 in size) Be creative with the materials you use, you may like to even think of using some recyclable materi-als.

Geography

We are looking at Human & Physical Features in our Geography this week. Read the notes on pg 10 and see if you can complete Activities 1-4 on pgs 10 & 11.

Science

This week we are looking at living things. Different plants and animals all have different life cycles. Their life cycles share some similarities and have some differ-

ences between them. Watch the video clip to learn about the wide variety of life cycles on our planet.

Now go to pg 8 & 9 to read the information and complete the activities.

Optional fun extra activities you may like to try:

1. Make an easy chocolate mug cake.

2. Make a Mathopoly Times Tables Board game. (see pg 12—15)

Tuesday 7th July

We are going to write a paragraph from where the lamp smashes and the ship approaches. You may need to watch the clip again and jot down words and ideas at the relevant part. You need to make your writing as exciting as possible. Include the following features:

An –ing word eg. Racing down the stairs, the lighthouse keeper …….

An adverb to start the sentence eg. Swiftly, the lighthouse keeper……

A short, snappy sentence eg. He froze.

A time connective eg. Moments later…….

Adjectives eg. The dark, turbulent sea…

A simile eg. The boat was like a wild animal…..

Exciting vocabulary.

A diamante poem has 7 lines.

Line 3: 3 verbs describing noun 1

Line 4: 2 nouns to do with noun 1, 2 nouns to do with noun 2

Line 5: 3 verbs describing noun 2

Can you have a go at creating a diamante poem for the lighthouse and the sea? Lighthouse will be noun 1 and the sea will be noun 2.
