Design Brief

It is December 1942 and the country is in the depths of World War 2. You have little money and rationing is in place. Using the ‘Make do and Mend’ theme, work as a group to fill a Christmas stocking for a loved one in your family. Your Christmas stocking has been made from an old sack you have found in the shed.

• Work in groups of four• Print your sacking Christmas stocking using a paper stencil and

sponge• Choose one of the following items to make for your group

stocking, so the stocking will have four items inside.

a) A simple fabric toy made from recycled fabric/buttons etcb) A 2D toy or game made from cardc) A decorated keepsake boxd) A lavender bag or egg cosy made from recycled fabric, lace etc

Extension task if we have any time left – make crackers from recycled paper/card
