relaxation to reduce stress and anxiety.
Yoga was found to be as effective as relaxation in reducing
stress, anxiety and improving health status on seven domains
of the SF-36. Yoga was more effective than relaxation in
improving mental health. Yoga provides a comparable improvement in stress, anxiety
and health status compared to relaxation.

It is recommended that yoga exercise be incorporated as an
activity program in assisted living facilities or in other long-
term care facilities to improve sleep quality and decrease
depression in institutionalized elders.
